Devil’s advocate-- the Industrial Revolution has led to heaps of the ‘prosperity’ we moderns have enjoyed, while effectively destroying our future via various forms of pollution, directly because too few heeded caution and considered the importance of sustainability.
It became all about money at almost every level, and unchecked capitalism is ultimately a tyrant, as we’re now discovering via late-stage capitalism. While the rich get richer and fascism rises around the world, of course.

Alright, dude… best of luck to you.

31·2 days agoYou’re painting with such an ocean-size brush, that you might as well be talking about anything at all. It comes down to details, facts and reality, and I’m not hearing anything persuasive from you.
I’ve been on the FV 2.5yrs now, and only once ran in to a ban-happy mod, here. And I’ve rarely heard other people complain about it, either.

4·2 days agoWelcome to Lemmy. Here you will inevitably be banned too,
Err… what makes you say that, exactly?
Agree. I’ve seen a couple chronic examples of that, recently.
A poster of content is also a ‘host’ to that content. If users comment, they have an opportunity to reply and upvote. A bot offers nothing.
Just leeching content from reddit will never get Lemmy anywhere.
I recently leeched some interesting post material from Reddit, shamelessly reposted it here, and it seemed to get lots of appreciation and a healthy amount of commentary.
I wasn’t acting as a bot, but does it matter? Most of the content’s probably not original to Reddit, anyway. Maybe using a bot in conjunction with hand-picking interesting material is a good idea, y’know?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Any left-wing creators on the epstein files?English
2·6 days agoJust in case it’s relevant or useful, there are some databases and repositories of files that came out well ahead of the hot mess that the DOJ has been releasing. Terribly sorry about one of the links going to the Evil Empire, but I make a rare exception here:

Heresy!
That said, I understand it’s not too popular across much of Asia, even beyond any lactose issues.

Reddit@lemmy.world•Is using the n word without implying they are being inferior racist or being a pottymouth?English
11·14 days agoJust curious-- how might that have played out better for you?
Similarly, what could the FV (or Reddit) have given you, after you declared yourself like that?Is it possibly in the realm of a failing of ours…?

51·14 days agoWhoops, only the very top bit of that photo is showing (for me). Maybe upload it to Imgur or such?
EDIT: No, I see it now! Yeah, that’s awesome. They’re also famous sprouters, so it looks like that one exhausted it’s tuber energy trying to reach light…

171·14 days agoMost fruits and veggies IME tend to dry out more than rot, unless perhaps you live in a very humid area. My experience with forgotten avocados is that they’ll shrink and get wrinkled, while becoming inedible inside, but won’t be problematic.
Tomatoes can definitely get gross and leaky if forgotten. Potatoes when rotting can actually produce poisonous gas, so watch out for that. Kind of a Solanaceae (Nightshade) theme there, I guess.

Thank you for that.At the same, I also love Weird Al. And yet, that was one of the truly WORST songs I’ve ever heard of his, oh dear… XD

2·21 days agoHoly hell, that was both hilarious and awesome!
Also, that caused me to remember that one Eddie Vedder tune. (now added to the list, above)

Given the local weather, there’s typically barely anything of that sort around here.
The real problem is the 4th of July, in which there are chronic explosions going on almost a full month sandwiching that date. Just terrible as a light sleeper with oversensitive hearing.
