9·1 month agoThe thing that immediately comes to mind is a cheap telescoping fly swatter. . Old radio antenna style shaft / handle. The part that’s supposed to swat the flies was a massive square that was way too heavy and had so much drag that it would flop and never hit flat and was too slow because of it. Never once was able to kill a fly and after about the fifth try the handle broke in half and the top flew off launching into the great Beyond. Pretty sure it’s still lodged behind a couch somewhere.

Slightly related. Wtf happened to the Apple CarPlay 2.0 thing that was supposed to fully integrate into the center console and digital dashboard screens that would allow the in-built UI to be overridden completely?
Ironically enough those RGB lights that cost Pennies are there to distract you from the fact that the cars themselves have been made of cheaper and crappier parts. Of course they still charge you more, but they are not adding to the price as much as you’d think.
My 2017 golf alltrack SEL is much higher quality than the 2020 Tiguan, and even better than the 2024 R-Line SEL Tiguan that my parter owns. The seats for example are not even close to as comfortable as mine. 2020 was a real fall off point because of Covid and they haven’t gone back to prioritizing quality.

The people complaining about privacy have it fucked up imho.
Lemmy wasn’t built for privacy. It was built to combat censorship and they are not synonymous. Again, imo hiding any sort of public engagement or impressions is just more censorship.
To simplify my point, were all here to engage with one another, so unless your being an asshole or aren’t living up to your own values whatcha gotta hide?

I am really sorry that you are going through this. I really appreciate all of the people in these comments who are dispelling the myth of laziness. It’s hard not to fall into the hole of guilt and shame, and it’s something I really needed to hear right now. But to me it does sound like you are experiencing burnout, and maybe depression? I have ADHD and after about the 1 year mark I get very bored with work and it starts to take a very real toll on me so I start to under perform and it makes me feel really guilty. So I am trying to be more kind to myself and give myself some grace and acceptance.
