After searching for it, I think it makes perfect sense since fedora people switched to TuneD in Fedora 41 and that’s what I was running.

It has been since like 2022 at least for me. I was on X11 and it looked blurry as hell. Same thing on wayland. One day, out of the blue a KDE update dropped and boom everything was crisp and clear. I thank the lords of wayland everyday 🛐. Since then, it has only gotten better
Switching to tuneD worked! Thank you so much!
Here’s what I did, from here. I’ve slightly modified the commands since that guide is from when tuneD was still on the AUR.
sudo pacman -Rns power-profiles-daemon
systemctl status power-profiles-daemon
The output should be : Unit power-profiles-daemon.service could not be found.
sudo pacman -S tuned
systemctl enable tuned
systemctl start tuned
● tuned.service - Dynamic System Tuning Daemon
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/tuned.service; enabled; preset: disabled)
Active: active (running) ....
tuned-adm active
Now, you can use tuned-adm
to switch to profiles, but since I am using a DE, I won’t be doing that. Now reboot and the power profile slider should be working!
You could check if powerdevil is installed, also the applet won’t re-check if the requirements are fulfilled so you have to restart plasma and maybe even the whole PC
Obviously powerdevil is installed, hence the service, unless I am getting something wrong. I have restarted multiple times.
Haha, soviet union at its finest I suppose.
Yeah, that’s a good idea. Thanks for the suggestion.
Also a tip if you haven’t used WMs before, run nm-applet --indicator
and blueman-applet
in the hyprland config file to get WiFi and Bluetooth working on the bundled nwg-panel.
No issues here. Will I don’t think I will continue using hyprland but I installed it for curiosity’s sake. The only sort of hiccup is the speed with which packages get updated which is enforced by the fedora packing system. Varexxy (?) is insane when it comes to commits so there is a little delay of a week with packages. Some packages like hyprcursor aren’t there yet I think. But apart from that no problems.
Hmmm. I didn’t know Dell had a Linux laptop. I bought a vostro with windows pre-installed and flashed fedora on it, expecting to get no WiFi webcam but everything worked out. It’s interesting that their windows machines run Linux better than their flagship Linux machine.
Well, you aren’t that far off after all!
Knowing some fringe users, your setup is probably ~3 points or so ahead of the middle of the bell curve. You never know. There’s probably a guy running kernel 4.12 on a 1990s CPU with his showa era CRT monitor to play freedoom.
About 2 years ago when fractional scaling got good in kde. X just blurred the shit out of everything else. Pretty happy on wayland!
In personal news, @nutomic’s daugher will be born next month.
Aww. Congrats man! Happy to hear that. Have fun with your daughter on your break and don’t worry too much about the project! As always, thanks for your work!
God that’s so fucking funny.
Don’t wanna do the ‘ackshually’ thing but it’s a little confusing so, I think you meant whining?
Ding dong.
Sorry, unlike you, I have a life. Can’t argue over this stupid shit.
Well that part is essentially just chromium so that’s why ‘vivaldi’ (as in what makes slightly different being its ui) is essentially closed source. But yeah that distinction is there.
For me X11 just flat out doesn’t work, fucks up the icons and scaling. Unusable.
