I wonder if you’re running into the same thing that I’ve had quite a bit of issue with in the last few weeks on lemmy.world.
When I go to the ‘copy’ of a post on lemmy.world from another instance, I will get the same message of “You must log in or register to comment.”
Only by searching for the post on lemmy.world, clicking through to it, and then also refreshing, does lemmy seem to acknowledge that I am in fact logged in! But only if I do those steps in that order.
EDIT: I’ve made it a bit easier for myself by setting up the search engine in my browser: https://lemmy.world/search?q=%25s
So that I can just copy any other instance link, go to the address bar and type ls
(the keyword I chose for the search engine), paste in the link and then go to the lemmy.world version from there, and refresh the page.
I used to be able to just use the Instance Assistant for Lemmy & Kbin extension by cynber, but for the last few weeks I have to do the whole search and refresh dance instead.
That Imginn link that mediocreme_ow posted seems promising, but otherwise in a pinch, I have good results with opening Instagram posts from profiles by opening them in a new tab. If you just don’t click them, but instead open them in a new tab, I don’t get hit with the “create an account”.
I think that Firefox (and Firefox forks, like Zen Browser) have low-enough marketshare that websites that depend on ad revenue may just kill support for Firefox if Firefox does permit ad blocking
An argument could also be made that Firefox and its forks have low-enough marketshare that websites that depend on ad revenue won’t want to deal with the extra work of keeping those users out.
In the same vein, with my family I’ve been using the analogy of “Imagine that all law enforcement had a key to your home, and they could enter at any time and look through your things, but you wouldn’t even know it if they did, or if they took photos or recorded videos of your place to take with them. Their argument is that the only way to keep you and your stuff safe from the bad guys is for the good guys to have access. But because the good guys now have access, it’s also easier for the bad guys to get in, because now there’s all these extra keys to your home out there, which might fall into the hands of the bad guys.”
Not a perfect analogy, but it seems to make them consider the issue from a more personal angle. And for those that argue, “Well, I don’t have anything to hide.”, I usually counter with “Then why do you close your curtains/blinds when you change your clothes or get out of the shower?” With my dad who grew up during the World War II, it also helped to mention that a law like this, once on the books, will not be easy to overturn, and while he might be fine with our current regime having access to all his data, that might not be the case with future authorities.
Interesting, I’d never heard of Kavita, so have just been using Calibre all these years. Did you start out on Kavita, or did you move from Calibre, or another software?
aegis for Age of Empires II. Instant building, gathering, research, etc. And of course marco for revealing map and polo to remove fog of war. cheese steak jimmy’s for extra food and lumberjack for extra wood. I always struggled to manage those two resources. But even more importantly, how do you turn this on, for that cool siege sports car.
Man, I played a lot of AoE as a child and teenager.
Music, without a doubt. Specifically, being able to choose particular songs to listen to. I’d get pretty miserable after a few days.
Also, outside the US WhatsApp is some kind of standard the way rich Americans think iMessage is. Companies will ask her to contact them on WhatsApp, so she’ll have to have it regardless of your personal involvement.
That really depends on the country that the family member is moving to, and is not an absolute thing world-wide.
Was it Queen of the Clouds? I like Lady Wood and Blue Lips too, but QOTC is just such a “leave it on, no need to skip any tracks” album for me. Such a vibe.
As far as I know, that’s just always how it’s been for markdown, which is what Lemmy uses. So in order to be sure that your comment looks the way you want it to, it’s a good idea to use the Preview function, which Voyager thankfully also has under the 3 dots menu in the lower right.
@Mr_Blott@feddit.uk also mentioned that you can put two spaces at the end of each word, and then it’ll count the one enter as a proper line break.
Like this. You can also do as I did, and just put a dash in front of everything, and then it’ll turn into an unordered list.
Looking at the source of the comment, OP only hit enter once per extension name they entered, and that’s why they’re showing up as if they’re one long run-on sentence. @Num10ck@lemmy.world probably didn’t know that you have to double enter for things to show up on separate lines.
I went ahead and found links for all of them, for anyone curious to check em out. I don’t personally know any of them, besides uBlock and Stylebot:
I recommend PowerWash Simulator (Steam link). Sometimes when I’m completely wrecked from work, I’ll sit and play this, while I chill in a Discord VC with friends. Sometimes both my girlfriend and I will play it multiplayer, while hanging with our friends in Discord. Really nice and relaxing game.
Wow, I appreciate you following up! I can just imagine how much you had to get through. Cheers!
You’re an absolute champ! Wishing you all the best with this project going forward, and I look forward to using it more :)
What a super cool idea, and I love the implementation! I do however keep accidentally downvoting, when I want to upvote, and vice versa, since all other sites that I’ve ever used, display the upvote first, and the downvote second. Any chance of a toggle for that in settings?
A must-have feature for me is the ability to collapse comments on posts. Right now it seems like we can only collapse replies to comments, or put differently, we can only collapse child-comments. Any chance you could make it possible to collapse parent comments too?
As an extra PS to anyone reading this, this is also possible on Chromium browsers, should you use that instead.
Edit: Just for those notorious for not reading the article ;)
Don’t know if you’re looking for desktop software specifically, but back in the day I used Medisafe on my phone, and that would definitely be my first port of call, if I had to start keeping track of that stuff again.
I upvoted you, because it was funny and made me laugh :D
