E: well, it looks like I remembered wrong and it was an atx, not micro. I think it is ASRock Rack ROMED8-2T and it has 7 PCIe4.0 x16 (I needed a lot). Unfortunately I don’t think it’s sold anymore other than really high prices on eBay.

I don’t know phonetics (or whatever the right term is for “mouth noises for speaking” is) enough to say if y- consonant/soft-j is the closest pairing. As I sit here like a weirdo going “yo-yo-yo” and “jo-jo-jo”, they have a similar starting position, but soft-j definitely has that “ch”. I think maybe it’s closer to an r, like you/rue.

This is a great post. I’m mid-30s and toying with a career change. If life’s good to you, you at least can exhale and review options, but no, generally studying (or practicing, whatever) is not going to be that kind of a wage multiplier, unless you are cherry picking (and/or discounting some serious debt). It can help make your job suck less though. I think probably just as lucrative is always being ready to change employers for a raise. But, I don’t have experience with that so I may be talking out my ass there.
