Where are you finding low risk investments with that much interest? Genuine question. Maybe I should shop around more. I would expect closer to 3.5-4%.

Is that true? I know threads can federate with activity pub but 1) does opt in federation imply it’s somehow different than other activity pub based apps and 2) it can federate with mastodon but it’s not based on mastodons itself? I’m asking
Truth social, if that’s true, I had no idea it was AP, but I really hope nobody ever federates with them.
Lol. While I was building my app I didn’t have a name for the first month. Then I came up with Blorp and my gf was like “yeahhh keep working on the name”. My thought process is that it’s most important that the name stick in your head so when your friend is like “I’m using Blorp” later when you go to download it, you remember the name. I’m also not a fan of Lemmy’s mouse branding. So I wanted a name that sticks in your brain and to ditch the typical Lemmy branding.
But if someone comes up with a better name, I’ll consider it. Naming things is hard lol.
For me its 50% because it seems the accept new users the fastest (from my very unscientific test) and 50% because Voyager does it so it must be the right way lol. Initially I had it randomizing between the most popular instaces, but I decided to simplify it and have it default to lemm.ee. I don’t feel that strongly. If someone presented a good argument for why I should change it, I would consider it.
The web version is also available! If you try it, feel free to submit any bugs through GitHub (linked in setting tab).
Thank you! Would love for you to joing the beta, either iOS or macOS for now. I will be rolling out other platforms based on demand, but I really need some early user feedback to help focus the work I do.
They offer mods stock options?
You’re saying I could be thinking twice as fast 👀
My eyes enjoyed your comment.
Coming in the next update!
Is that a positive or negative reaction? lol
LOL. Reminds me of this
Appriciate you taking the time to try it! If you have time time, could you right click and "inspect element”? Then go to “console”. If possible could you paste everything in console in a DM to me? If you dont see “inspect element” as an option, then there is probably something else going on.
This sounds like it might be an issue with the app itself, not BigSur. Might be able to get it fixed easily.
It might actually just work. The build I’m distributing is a universal build that should work on Intel and Apple Silicon-based Macs. I’m not 100% sure what the minimum macOS version supported currently is.
I would say just try it, but I’m curious what macOS version you are on and if it works. I’ll see what I can do to expand support to older versions if people want that.
I don’t really know what I’m talking about tbh, but my understanding is the more unique you make yourself, the easier you are to identify. For example, as soon as you use an ad blocker, your browser fingerprint becomes more unique because your average person doesn’t use an ad blocker. Even fewer people use Tor. So if someone knows you are using Tor, then they know you are 1 of maybe 100,000 people instead of millions (idk if those numbers are accurate, but you get the point).
That being said, Tor does do a pretty good job of making you blend into all the other Tor users.
But what I was talking about initially was mostly your ISP identifying your Tor traffic. So you use a VPN, but again you are now more unique than someone not using a VPN, even if your traffic is more encrypted.
Best to sell it. Since you use Tor you’re probably already on a watchlist
It’s not dead! I make Apple intelligent proofread what I write. 🤓
…but yeah, I’ve completely forgotten how to proofread.
Good to know, thanks! Likely I will setup a few accounts to test my client with multiple instances.
I’m working on my own lemmy client that will support keyword filtering on both web and in the app. Still need a couple months before it’s ready for beta testing.
New account because in the process of working with the lemmy API, I’ve realized how many API versions the world instance lags behind.
I don’t daily drive Linux (though I use Tmux and Vim 8 hours a day if that counts for anything) so take this with a grain of salt. Would those companies jumping to Linux really be a problem? Steam is embracing Linux and it seems like it’s legitimized Linux gaming in a way that people never thought was possible. I hate Adobe, but how would Photoshop Linux edition prevent you from using open source alternatives?
