There are only four browser engines running all the the different browsers. Each engine controlled by a massive company. Each company tries to capture user data with their default offering.

CSB: Years ago when my kid was in after school care I fixed a couple of their busted PCs. Nothing major, just made sure the hardware was OK, reinstalled Windoz, and then installed some FOSS games on them. I had enough stuff from the work scrapheap and mine to make a third. Kids loved it. I was a very-local semi-celebrity.

Just because the hardware doesn’t make the cut for heavy work doesn’t mean it cannot handle the needs of others.

When my wife and I first got him he never barked. If he needed to go outside he would find his way to the front door and scratch. The place we were renting had an enclosed yard. There were leaves! The gardeners would push the leaves to one section of the yard and put them in the composting bin every time thay came.

If Butters ended up in leaves over two inches high he became confused. Most likely because it messed with his sense of smell. I rescued him many times from the leave pile.

Butters crossed the rainbow bridge several years ago. His last few meals were bacon.

He was adopted as a senior dog. He was a Deer Chihuahua which have longer legs and snout than a regular Chihuahua. He was adopted from a rescue group that deals with older dogs. They estimated his age to be about ten. Our vet turned out to own three of his breed and estimated his age was closer to 15.

He had partial vision in one eye when adopted but that eye soon became cloudy and he could only see light and dark. The vet basically said shit happens but I was so upset I went for a second opinion. Turns out he was old and shit happened.

I could type all day about him but I’m getting sad.

No. Manufacturers have no say in what happens to computer hardware after is sold.

Some companies may destroy the hard drives to make sure no data gets out. Some companies will remove the memory as well.
