Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Whats a skills or hobby worth learning that will be helpful down the road?
61·10 days agoDefinitely educate yourself on personal finance. That’s the most important thing you can learn. Everything else follows after.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Would blockchain work better for the Fediverse, instead of Email Style Instances?English
6·10 days agoI’m totally in favor of a fully distributed solution! But you don’t need a ledger for it, neither centralized nor distributed. A simple pub-sub + DHT, torrent style, should be enough.
Blockchain is the wrong solution for that problem.
Check out Nostr, its’s pretty much what we need.
Damn, boy! That’s a big ass music collection.

Technology@lemmy.world•It just keeps getting worse - Firefox to "evolve into a modern AI browser"English
3·15 days agoMaybe it’s time to go back to BBSes. This whole internet thing kinda sucks now.

3·15 days agoNext browser on desktop will be one that has intentionally no JS support. If I’m making compromises I might as well go all the way through. 😅

4·16 days agoThere is also Firefox Focus which us basically a stripped down fennec. I use it as my default browser with JS disabled.
Fair point. We usually do that with screen sharing. But then only one person can edit.
With all these web based office suites popping up, I wonder if anybody needs these? It seems like a solution pushed onto us that nobody asked for. Everybody I know is still using MS Office or Libreoffice and everybody seems to agree that office on mobile devices sucks.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is something you can see, hear, smell, etc., that others can't?
9·29 days agoI can feel whether a battery is full or empty based on its weight. I know it doesn’t make sense but I’ve done a blind test and it works. Empty battery is lighter.
I have had this idea in my mind of building a privacy-first, open source dating app built on “privacy by design” principles. Still didn’t get to it tho.
Tried it, doesn’t work. Too many bugs. I can’t input a location and it fails to auto-detect so I am just living in cyberspace apparently.
First you should ask yourself why you would not want advice.
Which results in: a) accept and implement advice OR b) prove the advice wrong
