You are only talking about backbone capacity - the consumer usually still has shitty Internet because our politicians wanted it so. This has more to do with strategic errors and enabling that extremely large corporation with a T in its name to exploit the shit out of copper.

Apple has stopped being innovative for years now - they are always serving a slightly upgraded and much more expensive version of their phones each year… and people keep paying those abhorrent prices. I honestly do not understand why.
Android is not better since they try to copy Apple pricewise AND you can enjoy being simultaneously exploited by the phones manufacturer AND Google.

The European commission never was part of the solution but the problem. They just enjoy that the US can do the spying on EU citizens FOR them, while pretending that they wouldn’t install that kind of surveillance in Europe if they could.
