I don’t mean this in a demeaning way, but isn’t that just an escort + prostitution?
You’re getting paid for company is one, getting paid for sex is two.

He’s a former marketing lead of Nintendo, so completely dismissing him as a “podcaster” feels not entirely fair.
He doesn’t know everything, but he’s got a pretty good idea being there for 13 years during the Wii, Wii U and Switch era
It doesn’t really answer the question where the money is going, does it? Only why it’s being charged.
Edit:
Revenue from ticket sales goes to: paying for our online venue (QiQo), various supporting web services and automation, human support and facilitation, various promotional activities (handouts, stickers at other events, direct promotion to potential attendees / software demo participants / session hosts, social media), website management, graphic design, the editing of session notes and the production of demo videos published after the event, accounting and other bureaucracy and more.
Yup, I presume this is their answer to the cables burning. Divide the wattage between more wires
Searchcord yes, but not the researchers from the headline
We don’t really need any of those mnemonics because it’s a perfect system
More seriously there is the “King Henry Died, Drinking Chocolate Milk” for the Kilo (1000) Hecto (100) Deca (10), Deci (0.1) Centi (0.01) Milli (0.001), but that doesn’t really help with measuring on the spot, aside from being able to get the prefix right.
There’s an average step being 1 meter, but thats less useful for people with shorter legs unless they want to join the ministry of silly walks.
One that I use often is converting meters per second to kilometers per hour. Because 1 meter per second is 3600 meters per hour or 3.6 kilometers per hour, you can actually skip the multiply by 3600 and then divide by 1000 and just multiply by 3.6.
But aside from time conversions, there isn’t really anything else that can help because it’s just moving the decimal.
Slightly related, you can tell how far away lightning is by listening for the thunder and counting the seconds. Sound travels at 346 m/s so every 3 seconds is roughly 1 kilometer away. But I suppose you can do the same for miles and count to 5.
It also includes deleted messages. And they refuse to delete things when someone opts out
Deleted messages are not included. Neither the public nor the API allows you to read deleted messages
Upon joining a server, users gain access to all non-deleted historical content within public channels, and the same is valid for data retrieval using their API.
Yeah, exactly. It may sound scary or like a violation of privacy, but there is no privacy when posting to public online areas.
Well yeah, it’s not encrypted. It would be the same as 10 years of Reddit posts or Lemmy posts scraped
The real guide is still either outdated or doesn’t take into account that there’s a lot more steps. But considering it’s been 2 years, I don’t hold that against the author
I think that’s too simplified and it will create expectations that aren’t true, because It’s more like this:
Read & agree to Mastadon rules
Read & agree to (instance) privacy terms
Create account
Tap the verification link in your email
Solve the Captcha
Get a list of people/users to follow (why these people? What is it based on?)
Setup profile
Done!
Ah thanks, edited
I might be wrong, but this is still open, so wouldn’t that mean pictures are not deleted until this changes?

Edit: apparently it was just never marked as resolved but it had been implemented, disregard
The original Switch has this feature too, but it’s just vibration instead of also beeping.
In my experience, they always hire anyone with a pulse and pay them peanuts. Finding a competent and motivated person is a lot harder then.
The only one where they had some sort of screening was because it was support for the government
You’re gonna be constructive about this or just call names? Also, FS hasn’t posted for what feels like months.
“The researchers argue that psychological manipulation of OPs on this sub is justified because the lack of existing field experiments constitutes an unacceptable gap in the body of knowledge”
They were just convinced the end justified the means. Ethics be damned, there’s knowledge to pursue
If you long press on a comment for actions and then hit “user”, you see the option to add a label at the bottom of that menu.
A bit hidden, I agree, but very useful.
Would be a great selling point over centralized alternatives too. “take control of your own experience” and all that. Reddit will never be able to achieve that level
What you listed is what escorts do, minus the sex. Hence why I combined the two professions.
Do you have a partner? If so, how does your work influence your private life?
