While I am in the same boat as you, you severely overestimate the tech-affinity of the average Netflix user.

Pirating content safely, setting up a media server for it, share it with other people… it is all possible, there is good documentation out there. But aside from having the drive to do this, you also need to invest time to keep it running and maintain it.

The average person out there is happy to pay Netflix money so they don’t need to do that.

Edit: add to that also the fact that it is technically illegal in many countries. This is probably also a deterrent for the average person.

Fair, but also the Switch 2 has some backwards compatibility to Switch games. So they may still have an interest despite Switch 2 being out to prevent games that could still be sold on Switch 2 to be emulated via this.

Sorry, I’m out of the loop, what has changed that killed direct downloads specifically in the US? I am using DDL sites quite frequently and haven’t noticed any difference the past weeks/months.

Maybe bit more negative on both Last Jedi and the Solo movie. I don’t even remember if I actually watched the whole Solo movie because it was so forgettable.

Rise of the Skywalker, any bad review I read heavily underestimated how terrible of a Star Wars movie it is. Like, really bad. I held of watching it for many years, had the lowest of low expectations. And it still hit me how bad it was.

But then leeching via torrents is also legal. So one could just be an asshole for legality’s sake.
