Bluesky ain’t perfect by any stretch of the imagination… But I’m happy there are more alternatives. Despite some weirdness with moderation I have enjoyed my time in Bluesky so far. And the fact that more apps can be made on the AT protocol definitely makes it seem more legitimate in my eyes. Cool project imo

They do have an app but it’s only good for loading it. Their only currently supported way of a having a digital card is Google wallet (oddly not even apple wallet is supported yet)

Unfortunately my transit system’s digital pass is not a pkpass afaik. It only works on Google wallet :/

I don’t think blueskys that bad. At least not yet. I’d prefer a fully featured federated thing but the fact is mastodon just doesn’t appeal to most people.

Blueskys moderation capabilities at least are quite nice atm

Yes that would actually be very helpful! I’ve had trouble doing that on the android version, and I have heard that can help show what exactly is causing the issue. I have heard some settings on ublock can cause this (which I have tried tinkering with)

I think they know about the cross device syncing but yeah think it’s too slow. Idk how long it’s been since they used it.

There is an issue I’ve had with Firefox on Android that I’ve tried to fix but haven’t been able to, where the first time I load a website in like… An hour or 2, it takes a long time to load. After that everything is pretty quick but the first load after the app has been suspended (is my guess) is slow

The problem is they apparently really value having cross device syncing between desktop and phone, and dislike Firefox on mobile a bit due to speed. Idk I mean yeah I think chromium browsers on android are technically faster (seems to me at least) but with no ads it’s way better

Hoping this could maybe help convince my friends who are just looking for a chromium alternative and won’t even consider firefox

Only real reason I use fennec over mull is mull by default has a fingerprinting setting that, while being better for privacy, locks the app to 60hz and my phone supports 120hz. If 60hz doesn’t bother you then I think mull is the better choice. But they’re really similar at the end of the day

Yeah I’m kind of puzzled by it too lol. I wish they had just kept their original solution of using Macs to run iMessage. Perhaps if they had gotten popular it still would have been blocked, but their whole strategy of being super open about it is odd. I suppose they thought they could fight it but evidently that wasn’t the case.

Overall though I agree with the post, the app is really nice, the new android version is super slick and if they can get all the other connections working locally like they want, it’ll be even better
