Free and Open Source Software@beehaw.org•Why Powerful But Hard To Detect Backdoors Could Become A Routine Problem For Open Source Projects Because Of AI
6·9 months agothere’s already a whole swathe of static analysis tools that are used for these purposes (e.g. Sonarqube, GH code scanning). of course their viability and costs affect who can and does utilise them. whether or not they utilise LLMs I do not know (but I’m guessing probably yes).
been using newsblur since google reader died, works very well across everything and has OPML import/export support. some non-newsblur RSS apps allow reading from newsblur accounts
This whole article is great but the last section resonates with me pretty hard at work rn:
But I think the core of what pisses me off is that selling this magic machine requires selling the idea that doing things is worthless.
At work we’re being pushed to use Copilot because “you shouldn’t spend your time coding, you should spend it designing” (actual quote) and my guy, I enjoy coding and writing and doing things, not sending it off to the plagiarism-pollution machine

absolutely astounding how so much of the feedback to this article i’ve seen across social media amounts to “artists don’t deserve a living wage” or “they don’t do real art”.
don’t use LLMs or GenAI. support your artist friends
