I love this book! I first read it, I don’t know, maybe 20 years ago, back when Pargrin (he went by David Wong then) posted one chapter of it at a time on his website. A few years after he got it published, Don Coscarelli (director; does mostly indie movies including the “Phantasm” series) read the book, flipped out about it, and decided to buy the rights to the story and make it into a movie. It’s a pretty great adaptation, too! I’d rate it as mostly faithful to the source material. It’s got Paul Giamatti, Clancy Brown, and Doug Jones in it.

Anyway, if you like JDATE, you should check out Coscarelli’s movie of the same name. And also read the rest of the books in the series (book 4 was published about a year ago). And if you like the movie, you should also check out another Coscarelli classic, “Bubba Ho-Tep”, starring Bruce Campbell as Elvis.

My bad! Another classic. Mel Brooks just does not miss.

Is it fair to say that Mel Brooks movies are uncommon now? Have they gotten old enough that people today are generally ignorant of them? If so, “Blazing Saddles”, “History of the World: Part 1”, “Young Frankenstein”, and “Spaceballs” are incredibly worthy of a watch.

WTF is up with all the NSFW tags, and the massive ChatGPT-like spam?

The two main benefits I see are:

• A dedicated L2 switch is probably going to be faster when transferring between two connected clients
• You could set up VLANs, if you have a desire to. Not sure if your wifi router has that option.

Every time I deleted my comments, some of them came back. It was always different comments that came back. My best guess is that they have a distributed database, and it has federation problems, so records deleted on one instance still appear on another.

I actually have Fedora installed on my desktop, and Pop_OS installed on my laptop! I’ve always been a big fan of the RedHat way of doing things (Yum / DNF & RPMs, the fs organization, etc), but I’ve gotta say, I really prefer the Pop!_OS user experience when I’m in the GUI.

As others have said, it probably doesn’t matter which one you use if your primary purpose is gaming. They’ll both run Steam’s proton engine just fine. If you’re looking for COD, specifically, you’re likely going to run into some issues; ProtonDB says that support for those games is not perfect. But a lot of games will work just as well on linux as they do on Windows with it.

Another +1 for Arris. It’s been a rock-solid workhorse. I’m a big fan of them.
