One could argue that anyone paying taxes to the US (or any US-allied states) are “part of the problem” in that they’re partly paying for a state that is dead set on exterminating all life on the planet by accelerating climate change and embracing fascism (or, at the bare minimum, doing nothing major to oppose it). But the people paying those taxes are only doing so under threat of violence, imprisonment, or death. I think anyone who opposes this state of affairs is not part of the problem. They might not be part of the solution, which imo would require engaging in activism to attempt to overthrow the current state of affairs, but they’re neutral at worst. I’d like to think I do enough to fall under the former umbrella, and so would not think of myself as “part of the problem”.

The people who are “part of the problem” in my mind are three groups:

1. Those who willingly go along with the fascist project but do not meaningfully contribute to it. In america, these are your typical Trump voters who happily go along with everything he says but aren’t doing anything beyond that. It also includes many liberals who still believe in american exceptionalism and, for example, don’t see anything wrong with committing genocide so long as the person doing it is polite and pretends to be trying to stop it.
2. Those who contribute to the fascist project but are following orders. These are the kind of people who will go to Jan 6th, or scream about woke teachers at a schoolboard meeting. They might even run for small-time local office.
3. Those who are orchestrating the fascist project. These are the billionaires, high-level politicians, media personalities, and right-wing think tanks who have been actively pushing and/or masterminding the fascist movement for decades.

Clearly it’s one point three-twenty em-bee.

You can just replace “anti-Semites” in the quote with “right-wingers”. They don’t care, they’re just trying to waste your time.

Perhaps if he wore a bomb vest to the next senate meeting I would consider forgiving him.

Pessimism of the intellect, optimism of the will, AKA “Might as well try my best in case I’m wrong and we manage to pull it off”.

By this analogy, where does Biden, the American Paul von Hindenburg, land? Like obviously it’s worse to actually abolish democracy, but surely working with those doing it and doing nothing to stop them is also evil?

E: As a disclaimer about my political views, I believe that Trump and every other US president should be executed for crimes against humanity.

If it’s about domestic damage, then every president who owned slaves or supported segregation still beats him.

E: Also every president who was involved in the genocide of the indigenous peoples of America to an extent more than Trump (IE he probably ties Biden and Obama on this).

They’re low risk unless you ingest them, because then they’re hitting internal organs directly.

While it’s good to hear him say it now, I’m very annoyed that he didn’t attempt to hold Dem feet to the fire while they were in an election, and could have potentially extracted concessions. AFAIK he’s also still not calling the Palestinian genocide a genocide.

This is not to take away from the message that the democratic party must be destroyed and replaced with a working class (IE: Communist) party, which is correct, but merely to point out that Bernie himself cannot be trusted to lead it.

Dem supporters have been holding their noses for 50+ years and voting for the “lesser evil”. If that has brought us to this election, where your choice is between “genocide” and “genocide +”, isn’t it obvious that voting for the “lesser evil” just inevitably trends towards the greater evil over time? It is not a successful strategy at mitigating harm.

Trans people, LGBT people

Harris just said “I believe we should follow the law” when asked whether trans people should have access to gender-affirming care. This is leaving it to the states, which is essentially banning the existence of trans people in large segments of the country. She does not care about trans people or LGBT people as a whole.

Abortion rights

Roe was overturned under Biden, and Harris has not said she would stack the court or similar. She has said she would sign into law a bill passed by congress to restore reproductive freedom nationwide, but the dems almost certainly will not control the senate with a filibuster-proof majority, and even if they did they’d find some designated bad-guy who would turn coat to stop it (see: Joe Lieberman, Joe Manchin, Kyrsten Sinema). Harris will not do anything to protect abortion rights.

Ukraine

Which will lead to more Ukrainian deaths: the war coming to an end because US aid ceases, or a meatgrinder continuing for years which the Ukrainians have no chance of winning anyway? Which is more important: lines on a map, or actual human lives?

Black Lives Matter

Harris was a prosecutor. She’s a fucking cop. She’s VP of Joe “We have to fund the police!” Biden. She wants to build Trump’s border wall. Harris does not care about black people.

Palestine

Harris fully supports the Israeli genocide of Palestinians. Her VP, Walz, has said that Israeli expansion (IE Greater Israel) is key to US interests. They may actually be to the right of Trump on this issue just because Trump doesn’t have any actual political beliefs other than “make Trump richer”, while Harris and the dems are rabid zionists.

Those dastardly russians keep putting sticks in the spokes of my bikes. They even make it look like I’m the one doing it!

I was just listening to an old podcast ep () from 2021 IIRC talking about the TRIPS waiver, and how they “didn’t want to be too cynical” about Biden doing a whole song and dance which would amount to nothing. Just googled it and sure enough, we’re still fucking blocking it. The american government must be destroyed.

Eh, it’d be a good step in the right direction if they did stack the court (though term limits and a code of conduct are laughable half-measures at best), but I have my doubts the dems will do anything. If they sincerely believed that the american right wanted to end democracy and put dem politicians in camps (to be clear, they’re fine with other people being in camps), one would assume they’d be using that newfound presidential immunity to start drone striking “threats to the republic”.

Edit: oh and obviously whatever tools the dems use, the republicans will use more ruthlessly as they care far, far less about optics. Might as well play to win.

He’d be allowed to do them, but his views are much closer to those of the republicans (opposing abortion, pro-racism, genocidally zionist, etc) than to a typical voter so he’d never want to. And that was before his brain started leaking out his ears.

Wouldn’t work. Just think about all the religious Trump supporters who think he’s a “good christian man” in spite of his many obvious unchristian qualities. Their religion is downstream from their bigoted political views, and they don’t care one bit about being called out as hypocrites.

On top of that, the media those types would consume would only ever use it to show dems in a negative light. You have to dismantle that entire media apparatus first, which means mass arrests, targeted assassinations, political purges, and, the biggest issue for the dems, not respecting the private property of fascist billionaires.
