The answer is actually corporate greed and synthesized hype for what’s probably a pretty quality piece of equipment if you remove all the enshitification from it.

I mean having some respect for communities and their spaces feels like a pretty low fucking bar (hate groups and such notwithstanding obviously). It’s fine to think Apple is bad, any corporation in reality is. But what happens here is the equivalent of Christian proselytizing in spaces where people are just trying to do their own thing.

In the case of abuse at home should the school tell the parents if the kids report it? Where do you draw the line for privacy and what difference does it make if the parents are aware their kid gos by different pronouns at school? Why do so many people look at kids like they are property…? And this is coming from someone who can’t stand being around kids most of the time…

That’s because we don’t use other messaging apps like what’s app, not because of Apple. It would be the same thing on android. iMessage also sends texts to non Apple devices.

Because we have higher priorities in our life than that. Why don’t most people just learn my hobby of woodworking and make their own furniture instead of buying overpriced cheap crap at most furniture stores? It’s literally the same scenario.

This is the thing I can’t stand about all the “Apple bad” people here. You just wanna turn the device by default into Linux and don’t understand the implications that has for so many other non tech savvy users. When you’re on the side of Microsoft and Meta you probably aren’t right…Apple’s not great but they are a far cry from those two.
