Yeah, voyager does not have any ads or tracking or anything. It’s truly privacy first. In fact the only “analytics” I get are from Apple App Store and Google Play Store download counts etc which I can’t turn off. But if you use F-droid I have literally 0 usage information even crashes :)

Also Voyager has reproducible builds which means you don’t have to trust me. You can verify that the APK was built from a specific release of the source code!

Also noteworthy, for those instances using lemmy-ansible (should be most) this release should fix video streaming for Safari clients (videos refusing to play), and enable progressive streaming for all pictrs videos (before in chrome/firefox/native players they would have to finish downloading before playing).

I have no idea what OP is talking about here, it sounds like they’re only judging the app on its animation speed.

In the plex PLAYER, I constantly have to restart my tv, glitches, audio out of sync, black screen etc, stutters randomly. Incredibly annoying when I’m trying to watch something. I haven’t had a single playback issue yet with the jellyfin player. It just works

Edit: oh and how can I forget: in the plex player, sometimes “pause” just… didn’t fucking work?! Lmao. I had to exit the player and re enter. So annoying.

If the apps don’t work for you then I’d stick to plex. But I had the opposite experience, especially with the Plex Android TV app, it is so shitty… And the Jellyfin Android TV app is rock solid

It’s a little cludgy because it’s a hack, it really only works well on lemmy.world. There is a new API end point in the next version of Lemmy though, and Voyager will use that if your instance is upgraded.
