Technology@lemmy.world•LibreOffice blasts 'fake open source' OnlyOffice for working with Microsoft to lock users inEnglish
1674·21 days agohmm…is it really “blasting” when it only mentions this in like a single line in the beginning paragraph?
Many interpreted the last article in this series as an attack on Microsoft for using the OOXML format against users’ interests. However, this was only one of my objectives, as I also wanted to raise users’ awareness of fake open-source software, such as OnlyOffice, which partners with Microsoft in a strategy to lock users in.

4·5 months agoOh my god I suddenly remembered a laugh, but I don’t remember if it was insincere or not.
I remember Markiplier mentioning some TV show host laughing as if he was possessed. It was when he played Phasmophobia.
If I remember, I’ll come back with the exact person in a couple of hours.

Technology@lemmy.world•Watermarks offer no defense against deepfakes, study suggestsEnglish
17·8 months agoI think maybe an update to the image format standards, where it like somehow includes a hash of the instrument that has taken the photo and video, and thus, only such media that can be verified to have been taken by a physical instrument can be used in like legal matters, or reporting or journals.
Either this hash can be verified by some algorithm, or maybe the media could depend on this hash in such a way that the media is corrupted if it gets altered.
