Thanks!
I am gonna watch tonight when I get home. I would love to start working on the fediverse. I have a lot of ideas. I just never learned to code and not quite sure how to get started.
Thanks!

I believe the accusation is that the admins and moderators had a discord server that they were coordinating harassment campaigns from.
Hard to believe how many of us there actually are, yet social media has conditioned us into believing a website is dead unless it has 50 million daily visitors.
We certainly aren’t hurting for content (well, yes, we are, but the archive is being built as we speak.)
Thankfully this glorious thing is still being built and small enough for your opinion to be seen by those building it.
I disagree, but i think your viewpoint is valid.
…we are building a social web here, that is why.
If you just want a website with rss, why be here?
People used to like Joe Rogan and Dave Chapelle before they started hanging out with Elon Musk.
I dont think anybody truly believes they are friends with him out of free will. They would have to be blackmailed to hang out with this simp.
Is signal finally going to add chat rooms to compete against telegram and discord?
Thank fucking Todd.
About time.
Your link doesn’t work though.
I’m uncertain what the benefit to federation there is for that content.
Thank you for this article.
However, if i am the only person on my instance and I am blocking federation from known bad actors, I should theoretically be protected.
Thank you for this.
Any particular tutorials you recommend for setting up a first fediverse server?
Thank you.
This has been a lot of help.
Thank you for giving me your opinion.
I will try to have an open mind about it going forward.
I am happy with loops for now though. No longer having the algorithm I don’t miss it. I don’t miss 7 ads per hour, all of them for jedi pajamas or dhubai chocolate that costs $50 per bar.
Any specific things you think I should prioritize first and then build out from?
I do like the idea of a federated passport essentially, where your subdomain acts as verification it is you.
Thanks for the response. Realistically what am I looking at if I want to do a weekly blog post, and then mostly only posting comments on the various service?
I figure if it is possible to have the actual website not publicly visible, sort of like everything is behind a paywall, but everything behind that pay wall still gets posted to the various services, this just preventing website traffic.
I get that it is the most organic thing you have ever felt, but that should be itself something that makes you raise an eyebrow.
A foreign language service that does not cater to you, in a language you don’t speak, and theoretically has none of your prior data is perfectly catering a social media experience tailored individually to you, and doing it on a level that no corporation who has been targeting and grooming you for 20 years has been able to achieve.
Either your comment itself is inorganic and mere advertising promising impossibilities, or you are a genuine person offering such extreme praise but we need to be skeptical here.
You aren’t saying the app is good. You are saying it is the best experience you have ever been provided, and if that is the case, this app has some explaining to do on how they achieved that.
Genuine or not, your thoughts on the matter are weird, so weird that it becomes hard to even respond to.
From the article somebody further up posted up, rednote has had about half a million downloads from app stores in the US.
TikTok’s US consumer base is about 136 million if my memory of what was said on NPR a couple mornings ago is accurate.
While I am sure that number will be growing, a lot of the feeling of everybody moving to redhorse appears to be astroturfing.
Like… they had a 50,000 person live event that sounds awfully a lot like like a recruitment seminar/product orientation.
This isn’t organic.
Meta has replaced third places, public square and community directories and then sells that access to other media.
It is a conflict of interest for the community directors themselves to profiting off things which harm the community.
To the best of my knowledge, Mastodon does not have that conflict of interest.
I don’t think we know the full extent.
He meant just sn.
Facebook at that time was not collecting social security numbers (nor are they currently, I don’t believe.
Proton literally has all of those except for maps.
