  • Your definition is useless to my concerns about AI, and you don’t care about a discussion, you directly want to damn them - for using filler BS art that they made sure to remove and some promo? You want to throw them into the same lot as the same people vibe coding and generating a complete game out of AI, you do you. I just look at how they handle removing it and owning up to it after they use it. It’s funny how flawed people who only tolerate perfection are versus the people who are capable of valuing people grow from their mistakes.

  • They just don’t give a shit anymore, they basically toppled down the world order that at the very least claimed to care.

It also doesn’t really matter because Reddit has gone from trying to create centralized subs to doing the thing of putting everyone into their own cattle processing bubble. Try creating a new account and subscribing to the conservative sub if you want to experience how far to the side the rabbit hole goes. This is why young people are getting radicalized, their parents have no clue how their social networks are radicalizing them because they are getting a very different experience than them.

Incidentally and seriously, a few days ago I tried doing account recovery to the outed Ghislaine Maxwell email on reddit to see if I could get a confirmation whether she had had an account on reddit or not. Unfortunately, the page was fortified against that sort of account presence checking vector, I just find it funny that it seems to have coincided with her return to worldnews - I doubt I was the only one to try it. I also tried to access the account with some of the passwords that had been leaked.

Previously, a person who had claimed to work in the legal field had claimed ownership of the account in internal conversations and had denied being Ghislaine Maxwell. Which makes sense, her lawyer’s are not her, and they acted in about the same way legal representation wanting to keep things undercover would act. She also attended the same events in Silicon Valley as reddit CEOs did, like Ellen Pao revealed. There’s also a lot of work showing the coincidences between the posting / comment frequency and real life events Ghislaine Maxwell attended, and comments that were at least apologetic to pedophiles.

After trying to recover her account, it’s the first time I ever got an account really shadowbanned and confirms that they’ve either begun to implement more stringent browser fingerprinting on their end (sessions were different but on the same machine and no browser obfuscation was present) or that they already have had it for quite a while but only seem to care to track them in certain cases. The account itself was rather new and benign, having tried to play nice avoiding controversial takes, so no cares given.

  • I don’t know of anyone who isn’t in some way contributing some way or form to some rather dystopian practices, intentionally or not. This is not a justification, just an observation. Just by being part of any society and filing your taxes people can be “working for evil”.

The real crux of the matter is what you consider acceptable evil. The people who tell themselves they don’t accept any are usually the most intolerant. AI is a buzzword, but engineered intelligent systems are inevitable. We decide whether we want to let it be part of our society or whether we allow it to topple it. Either way, at the end of the day to most of us it won’t really matter if at the top is a silicon mind or a meat one.

  • It’s sort of funny they have the reputation as one of the least corrupt countries in the world. It’s funny because when you say that something is incapable of being vulnerable in some way, that means at the very least that they are fertile grounds waiting to invite it.

The public does not consider corruption a major problem in Danish society means those that are corrupt can get away with more because of less supervision. The OCDE has serious concerns about the lack of enforcement of bribery paid by Danish companies abroad and the Danske Bank money laundering scandal, which was the largest money laundering scandal ever in Europe and possibly the largest in world (at least until the Trump era), involved - you guessed it - Russian (among other USSR remnants) money laundering. Denmark will do what is good for Denmark, but Denmark is not the EU.

  • It’s funny how many governments are getting surveillance wrong. Mass surveillance and aggregating the data with other social network databases is where the danger is at. Personal surveillance is right up there with recording authorities abusing their power and protecting your home. Ironically, the reverse is happening. The same governments where laws like GDPR criminalize personal surveillance also sign up for palantir’s services and mass surveillance systems as they allow companies to no longer give a shit on their websites about the GDPR and effectively allow them to collect all the personal data GDPR was supposed to protect. People shouldn’t be so keen to disseminate public videos onto social networks, but they should definitely be allowed to record and submit them to the authorities or to the courts if necessary.
