As a coder, the majority of my job isn’t writing code. It’s translating the bullshit management says and the broken specs we’re given into what they both actually want, not what they said. There is never going to be an AI that fixes that
I still think Ilhan should sue Musk for slander. At least 100mil in damages.
Actually yes, there are more oligarchs than the idiots in charge right now, and it’s going to come to a head at some point. Each one has their feifdom and they won’t go quietly.
More to the point, it’s going to reach the point of mass protest again, and moron is going to call in the military. After which everything is on the table. No one in power will be safe in anything but armored transport and guarded villages, which won’t last long. At that point the US and it’s global hegemony will be broken. There won’t be the resources to project military power beyond our borders and a few subject states, because it will cost so much to keep security at home, and productivity will tank hard.
No one can beat the US military except the US itself, and it’s being forced to do just that.
Half dozen is plenty really. In recipe’s it’s supposed to be 3 quail eggs to replace 1 chicken egg, it’s really about 2.5 just rounded up. With a family of four and a dozen birds we have egg breakfasts 2 or 3 times a week in the summer, down to every other week in the winter. We’ll probably expand the flock a little this summer, bigger cage plans once I can figure out how to keep them as safe as they are in the shed now. Just found out rodents can spread bird flu too, so building requirements just got tougher.
It’s made me a lot more smug about having our own quail.
Hurting families is the purpose. They need horror to fuel their calls for martial law.
McAfee was a solid product in the beginning, it turned to crap after it’s admittedly crazy founder sold it off.
She’ll do what the oil companies tell her to, and they’ll tell her to shut up, when they see the tax discounts it would earn them.
In the end it’s all about the dollars, who has them, and who’s willing to spend them.
Shut off oil exports to the US and send them to the EU instead.
Although my bet is it would take less than 2 months of just shutting them off to change any policy.
Bigotry and racism do come in multiple flavors.
If you don’t let them speak up, how are we going to find the racists? They’re all old so it’s not like they just suddenly appeared when Obama was elected. They’ve been hiding and hidden. Bring the assholes into the light, and let’s get out the dildo of consequence.
He’ll bring peace if he has to kill every man, woman, and child to get it.
Or something along those lines I assume.
You know a good union would prevent this kind of thing.
It would take years for new mining to begin to come on line. No one takes that risk based on the short term of a single presidential term.
It’s not a policy question it’s a media question. The right started taking over news media the day Nixon resigned. Repealing the Fairness doctrine, ending League of Women voters debates, propping up Fox news, and Sinclair media buying out all the local stations. That’s the decades long community goal they’ve been running. The left needs to understand it, and how to fight it, because MSNBC isn’t doing it.
It’s lack of direct evidence. Trump operates like a mafia boss. No paper trail, always use euphemisms for direct action, use intermediaries for voice communication. That’s why everyone around him got caught and prosecuted, but he didn’t. The entire case would be hearsay interpretations. Federal guidelines wouldn’t let a prosecutor take that to trial. Usually in that case they go for intimidation to get a confession, which doesn’t work on a megalomaniac narcissist.
Nothing but anecdotal, but it kinda looks like Bluesky is becoming a thing. Couple that with a lot of people taking a step back from the world right now.
I’m betting garbage trucks actually end up being first. A half dozen trucks per human monitor sitting back at the station, with two guys in a pickup to run out to any problems.
They already are, prison labor expansion would be at the expense of existing companies.
