TikTok is a political scapegoat because they’re Chinese-owned, and they have long been taking serious eyeballs & money away from American oligarchs - so said oligarchs are pulling whatever strings are at their disposal to eliminate the outflow of money to places they can’t easily get it back from.
Reddit has quite a range of political fiefdoms. Compared to what “X” has become, virtually anything more tolerant of non-right-wing opinions looks significantly more liberal, even though the reality is that much of it is neoliberal at best (i.e. what used to pass for “centrist”). True leftists will tell you that the liberals of today have far more in common with conservatives of decades past than they do with actual leftists. That fact helped cost Harris the election.
When it comes to Twitter/X, you’d be hard pressed to point out other communities that are significantly more extreme in their right-wing audience than those that have flocked to there over the past couple of years. There are plenty of right-wing communities nowadays, but they’re all about the same because they’re all heavily extremist-leaning - you just can’t get much more right-wing without becoming Mussolini (or similar).
In the end, Twitter was attacked because - despite Musk’s claims to the contrary - it’s undeniable how much extremist right-wing content is favored. If you can’t see that, then you seriously need a reality check.
“Ideologues” are everywhere, and you are not exempt from their influence, either - it’s just a matter of whether you choose to listen to the ones that tell you what you want to hear, or the ones that are willing to risk losing their audience because they know telling the actual truth is far more important.
As far as I’m concerned, the more individual groups all reaching the same conclusions about Trump the better. The decentralized nature of the revolution will make it that much more difficult to contain.

That can only lead to dangerous places. Like The Three Stooges…
EDIT: sigh Guess I’m the only one who caught the Short Circuit reference… r/fuckimold
No, they only stipulated that human life hadn’t been eradicated (yet) - the question itself didn’t mention humans.
Sorry, no - you are likely confusing me with a Romulan due to the fact my time of Pon Farr is approaching.
Hope so you know they’re not Romulans?
OP didn’t specify “human” life…
Politics is involved in EVERY aspect of life whether you realize it or not - particularly those involving any other person. It affects through what kind of lens things are viewed - factual or not. Even trying to avoid given topics reveals your political leanings. THIS fact is DEFINITELY something you should know.
In response to “will Trump roll it back?”
According to Daniel, “most of those people would look at it and say, ‘Okay, we may not be excited about it, but why roll it back? Because most of what it tries to do is pretty nonpartisan or bipartisan. And if you roll it back, then you’re leaving yourself open to, ‘so why did you get rid of it?”‘
Because logic and Trumpian Republicans mix even less well than oil and water. They also tend to have severe cases of “not invented here” syndrome. They’ll make a big deal about rolling “the incompetent piece of crap” back, change three words and the title, then claim how much better their version is.
Rapid7‘s Adam Barnett says January marks the fourth consecutive month where Microsoft has published zero-day vulnerabilities on Patch Tuesday without evaluating any of them as critical severity at time of publication. Today also saw the publication of nine critical remote code execution (RCE) vulnerabilities.
Man, I hope this doesn’t mean they’re trying to avoid looking bad by not publicizing severe issues. This is not an area where politics should prevail - it’ll only be far worse in the end.
Same boat here. My spouse has numerous health issues that are mostly manageable, but the physical limitations make employment difficult and the Medicaid health plans are such as PITA to deal with that they may as well not be there. My spouse has extremely low self-esteem (that over two decades I’ve only minimally been able to improve), and thus no drive to fight for the help that is needed. Me going would likely mean the end for both of us.
At this point I’ve already long since been dead inside, so it’s well past time that my body finally joined my spirit. At least I’d go out happier knowing that I wouldn’t actually have to live through the second coming of Repugnican-induced hell - a.k.a. “this time we’re gonna hit the ground running and do our damnedest to thoroughly destroy what’s left of the country in under four years.”
Not to be left behind, the west invests in an even faster next-gen train codenamed “snowpiercer.”
Guess that’s why the vague range of days.
I don’t believe this crap for a second - they can afford all the security they need to protect themselves. I think this is an attempt at manipulation to keep us at bay for a while until we cool off & resume living like before this happened, so they can continue doing what they’ve been doing all the while knowing that they shouldn’t push much further for now.
Let’s face it - human attention spans are short, and in three months or so this will be pushed back in most people’s minds as they continue dealing with their day-to-day struggles. This messaging is designed to make us feel “heard” so we wait to see what happens rather than risk our lives on taking further action, but after a while nothing will have changed & it’ll all be the same as before.
Methinks you have too much faith in those wielding the power to demand this. Examples abound of assholes - anyone from forum mods to police officers - abusing their power against those they look down upon. Yeah, it often comes back on them eventually, but not always, and in the meantime the lives of those they target can be made a living hell if they so choose.
Can’t believe nobody noticed this article is a year old. 🤔
