Parents may hate the idea of the public school system because everything is government-approved and streamlined. However, it isn’t like those same parents have a better idea in how to educate their children on their own, on top of everything else they have to do as a parent.
Also, 9 times out of 10, homeschooling involves lots and lots of religious brainwashing.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is this called? Is it a situationship or something?English
6·6 days agoWow, what a mess. This is why I don’t entangle myself with those who flirt and get with multiple partners when they’re already with someone. This is why I don’t like poly/open/situationship shit.
Look up what a situationship is, then read your post again. You’ll find an answer.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•They confirm life after death is real and you'll see your friends and family that have passed, what do you do?English
3·7 days agoI think the option to commit suicide just became easier for me if this was the case. However, some of my better friends are still alive so I’m not going to.
Given by how repulsed animators like Miyazaki was when AI was able to replicate Studio Ghibli’s style, there may be some resistances in getting AI implemented into anime shows and movies. CGI already was barely accepted and you’ll find watchers who just don’t even like CGI being implemented.

3·14 days agoDo you think that’s going to stop them?
“Legalities? What’s that?”

1·14 days agoI hope not. If the billionaires haven’t yet figured out how to, then that’s a good thing. They’d be clawing to clone themselves if to remain in power.

Technology@lemmy.world•Is The New York Times a games company? A familiar debate continuesEnglish
115·14 days agoUninformed? The headline was a stupid question and the article is presumable stupid. What valuable information would I gain by reading such a trivial thing? None. So, yes, I’m blessed to not be informed about something that ultimately doesn’t matter to me. Get bent. Or cry through downvotes, whatever floats your boat. :)

Probably when we leave DDR5 and then DDR6 will be the sacrificial goat to AI.
What AI will do, is that it will cause a market lapse between generations of RAM. People who missed out on DD5, have to wait until we’re at DD6 and vice versa.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I think Lemmy in general is very against AI. I'm rather new here, is it like a fediverse group thing or is this even based on reality?English
594·16 days agoA lot of people even outside, who are not techbros and corporate out of touch zealots, don’t like AI. It is being treated as a solve-all solution for everyday problems. When, it is horribly doing its job, gets in the way, artificially messes up anything in reach.
Unwritten rule online; you don’t. Unless you’re paying bills online and whatnot.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•NSW digital-only releases: Are they in risk of becoming lost media?English
1·20 days agoJust like preserving video games, since the video game companies only do it if it means to make another buck off of cheap nostalgic grab, we have to archive them.
If we don’t, then they will certainly be lost and we’ll have endless discussions of what-about their existences.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Should I be concerned when my download speed hits KBPS?English
1·20 days agoI don’t torrent, but I usually do DDLs. Some of them will require premium accounts for better speeds of course. Other times you’re relegated to just slow agonizing speeds that brings you back to those lovely days of Dial-Up!
There’s some irony in that you still think the Pirate Bay has some use in today’s way of pirating. Okay, grandpa, you’re out of nursing home curfew.
