  • Should be asleep ramble but…

Honestly, had a lot of time to think back in chemo. Wasn’t even old enough to drink yet. Caught early, pretty high rates for success… But still… Lots of time to think. Sat next to sweet old ladies with much harder fights…

I appreciate the cosmic absurdity of it all. This whole experience of brief life in a tiny blip of this stupid cosmic scale of infinity in all directions, billions of years either side… Meaning comes from what we make it. It’s the best of times, it’s the worst of times. Try to enjoy the ride while it lasts.

Find hobbies. Learn a new skill. Get lost in a book, or museum, or at a disco. Get that extra slice. Take that road trip. Learn how to play that instrument. No, it’s probably not too late to start skiing, or climbing, or studying French. Grind if you have to. Cool shit often requires luck, but those who put in the hours get lucky more.

I feed my brain new music every day, and try to add laughter to every room I’m in. Make art, be weird, find the helpers.

    Much love

  • I got into a fender bender with someone I knew from college. Spun out on ice so we meet front to front when we bumped. Once the cars stopped I swear we both practically did the cartoon eye rub of disbelief lolol.

Not mine but old school crew story. Couple of lads bumped into each other in a bar in Europe - we from the States. Neither knew the other was traveling. Heard a distinct laugh across the pub and rest is history.

  • I’m flummoxed for sure. I need a computer to be a bit of a power house, ideally well equipped for music production software and live performance, DJ software, graphic design/animation/illustration, and at least for the desktop gaming. Been in the market for a laptop so I can take at least the music & design production on the go, but damn I hate laptop shopping.

Unsuuuure if Linux is compatible with the graphic/music production software I’m working with, or if there are viable work arounds. Windows 11 looks like a dumpster fire I do not wish to support. I’d really like to avoid Apple as I have my own grievances there too. Windows 10 obviously seems on the way out.

Long story long, feeling a bit lost on how best to proceed. If anyone uses Linux for similar creative endeavors, would love to hear your roses and thorns on the matter. Certainly open to recommendations for a sturdy war horse of a lappy as well.

  • Pretty much this. I like to DJ, mostly a hobbyist over paying gigs these days, and have plenty of tunes ripped from the tube. Now I have the fun task of trying to replace everything with higher quality versions. Shitty rips are fine enough for a house party on a humble audio system, but proper venues with subs and high fidelity audio setup make it obvious you ripped from YouTube.

In a perfect world I would love to buy what I use. Problem is I would need an insane budget to grab what I want. I listen to a lot of a music.

  • It’s a combination of a few things. I’ve always been fairly chill, and I think these factors help further that zen.

Having a potent sense of humor makes it easy to laugh off anything from mundane to tragic. Always preferred to “laugh, so I don’t cry.” Easily my biggest coping mechanism.

Another good method I heard was this perspective exercise. When something irks you, stop and think “will I still be upset about this a week from now, month from now, year from now?” Usually the answer is no, I’ll have completely forgotten about this mild inconvenience. If it’s something I’ll be upset about a year out, then I’m justified being upset in the moment.

Finally, another tool of perspective is the cosmic absurdity of it all. Here we are, sharing this tiny mossy pebble of a space ship called Earth, in the middle of the goddamn boondocks of outer space. If this entire planet disappeared overnight, the universe at large wouldn’t even notice. For an inconceivable distance in every direction is a cosmic lifeless void. In the absolute grand scheme of things, all these little grievances are so insignificant. It’s insane that any of us are here. We’ll return to infinite nothingness soon enough. Take a deep breath, enjoy the ride while it lasts.

Idk maybe hit a joint once in a while too lol
