22 days agoIt’s free and open source. Someone could always fork it. I have been using OO.o and LO for years now but lately found that OO is better overall.

16·25 days agoUsing Linux in the university back in 2004 helped make the jump to Linux at home and I have been using it for 20 years now.

The first time I ever used Linux was in high school around 2001-2002. I don’t remember what the distro was but it had drawing issues, clearly some kind of driver issue that I couldn’t figure out, on my PC so I switched back to Windows 98SE.
Not what op asked for, but it kept away from Linux at home until 2007. I started using Linux regularly in university around 2004.
Wasn’t it part of why he acquired Twitter to shut down the account? The account later moved to Mastodon.
- SteamOS: because it came with my Steam Deck.
- LinuxMint: because it is an Ubuntu-derivative and widely used which makes finding solutions and packages easier and I like MATE.

If your criteria is failing to admit to genocides, then every Western “democracy” is a dictatorship, except perhaps Ireland.
He isn’t a dictator, he actually survived a military coup, and unlike his nationalist opponents he has welcomed refugees.

The code is already in production, there is no point in rewriting it. It can be maintained for decades to come. New features can be implemented in other languages and over time.
I bet is cheaper to teach it to new programmers than to rewrite old software. Just because a language is old doesn’t mean it is unlearnable or that software written in it needs to be rewritten.
COBOL is perfectly suitable for financial purposes for which it was designed. The SSA code has gone through decades worth of changes and improvements that cannot be replicated even in 10 years.
Why don’t we have similar class solidarity?
