always has been.
there was a moment in the 1990s when a computer application didnt have to be rectangular. stoner fantasies of wonderful possibilities blossomed and a couple of interesting examples showed up like Sonique media player for windows. however it quickly became obvious that rectangles were the most useful, everything else was a compromise within constraints. if you were to build a sculptural house, imagine having to also build the furniture and lighting and everything to fit without being annoying or wasteful.
nobody on this planet is more qualified to navigate the oncoming global operational tsunami. doesn’t mean he’s an engineering visionary, or knows how to build the machines that build the machines.
modern cloud based apps can spin up additional servers as demand spikes and spin them down when demand goes back down, with load balancing etc. limited by the financial budget for such hosting. does firefox have millions of dollars to capture some major adoption? i think they should.
you need to use an app on the phone to add/remove apps and updates. but really the app scene is stagnant.
apple watch can be set up on a family members iphone.
a cellular smartwatch might be an option for you, maybe alongside an e-reader.
