When a normal person uses the word female, they aren’t typically using it in a way that upsets people.

I would argue that if you did get called out for using the word “female”, that’s primarily a reflection of the way you were using it.

They didn’t call you out for using the word “female”, but for what you were saying with it, and instead of doing any actual reflection you just blamed your choice of words.

It’s not demeaning. The only people that get upset about it are oversensitive antisocial people on the internet. While “female” is not commonly used in conversation, there’s nothing demeaning or improper about it.
