It appears that you are looking to get all of the benefits of community, while absolving yourself of any of the responsibilities. You want to use someone else’s i stance, without having to follow any of their rules. You want to have your own little safe space to spew whatever it is that obviously goes against community guidelines, but also for that space to be able to interact freely with the community. We don’t want to interact with you on that level, that’s why we are all here, following those rules.

If you really want a place where you can say whatever shitty thing you think everyone eeds to hear, then go make your own instance.

Movie is definitely top tier, I also love the novella. Different Seasons is what I point to when people dismiss stephen king. Shawshank Redemption, Stand By Me, and (while not on the level as the other two) Apt Pupil all in the same collection. But to each their own; pretty sure the final story is trash though haha.

Yes, in many parts of the west they were not even allowed those marginalized communities. For all intents and purposes, Oregon was a ‘sundown state’ until the civil rights era. I have coworkers whose deed to the house they bought still has (obviously now unenforceable) language in it stating that the house may only be sold to a person of caucasian descent. Oregon was anti-slavery, not because they opposed slavery, but because it would bring people of color into the state. I say all of this as a southerner who was shocked to learn the racial history when I moved here to Oregon.

Portland may be progressive today, but that is a recent development, and the rural portions of the state still fly a traitorous flag.

Forming coherent sentences puts it above large sections of the population. Eventually they’re going to have to dumb down the speech output, ala Dubya during his presidency. Add to that all the conditioning to trust authoritative sources and this is going to turn into a real problem sooner rather than later. I think one of the first things to come out that will really cause damage is replacing teachers with ai. If all those teachers out there would quit asking to make more money than a 12 year old in a meat packing plant, maybe this wouldn’t happen, but I digress… (Kudos to all the teachers out there, obviously.)
