Newpipe is all I have. I signed up for a couple creators patreon to support those I really like. Fuck Google. They are here for the investors bottom line not our shit. But people just want their shit and it perpetuates this behavior. My friend said he pays to support the creators he likes. He supports the giant corporation holding these creators ransom. Just send them money directly. Use new pipe or whatever. Quit supporting this shit and let the whole thing die until we realize there has to be a better way.

That’s like better than 99% of all bullshit on the Internet. That’s such a cool thing. Reddit isn’t (wasn’t) all bad, but it became the Nickelback of websites. It used to be such a powerful tool for people but now it’s… Just… Whatever it is.

I got banned for saying a mod was on a power trip. I was permanently banned with no way to appeal. Been here ever since. Haven’t been back. My wife showed me a reddit thread the other day about a serious topic and every single comment was a meta joke about nothing. I expected to see serious answers like the old days but it was just comment after comment of people trying to be the next broken arms or coconut fucker. I’m all for funny shit but it was all just cringe and my axe bullshit. That place is just awful.

There’s a couple of scenes I think in enterprise that shows the linguistics person programming something like that actually. Been many years since I watched it (it’s been a long road lol) but I recall that scene.

Language drives me nuts too. I believe in Star trek the badges translate in real time? Best explanation I ever saw (read) was hitchhikers guide. The babel fish “eats” language and poops out brainwaves or whatever to the receiver. I probably got the details wrong but it’s close enough and hilarious to boot.
