It depends on what they’re creating. There are definitely people that make good money from ads. The biggest problem is usually it’s an unstable income and you never know when the god of algorithm will just decide to nuke your channel for no reason.
It’s always jarring loading a news site without ad blocking. The whole thing just seems cancerous, and that’s before you can even start reading the story.

I’m pretty sure the immediate goal is to make it so that real content and AI content have the same legal status. Their ultimate end game is likely to create new, more draconian IP law that will let them own the AI content. Possibly even give preference to AI created content.
You just need to segment the choice. First you choose between just sign me up or advanced choose you instance, then you switch to either the traditional setup or the hold your hand setup depending on that choice.

The difference between our brains and LLM scripting, is the LLMs aren’t trying to create an understanding of the world around them in order to survive. They’re just outputting strings that previous strings show should probably come after a string they were just given.
