I have a Fire TV which I rarely use and when I do I stream from the Apple TV box. I noticed that the TV was consuming 50-100mb data per day even when it was turned off. I have blocked WiFi access using my router so I can tell you that it works.

It will be annoying when you search for “Wings” and a restaurant shows up which is 30 miles away because it’s being promoted and is probably just a bar which sells wings and not a wings only place like Wingstop. This is how the App Store search works and that’s why I refuse to go to the app to search anything. I don’t know how you can say these types of search results are good for anyone. The top app/ search result is completely irrelevant and takes up space. It’s only beneficial for Apple.

This isn’t new to Apple. A lot of companies want to save money so they offer to pay for your phone or give you some other incentive. In my previous job, people who were around for 10-15 years had given up their personal phone and were using company phone and number. When they left they took their work phone with them. They got a new phone every 24 months but they had to install the company MDM software so basically gave up their “privacy” to save money. The cellphone plans aren’t cheap so they probably saved $1000 per year just for cellular connection alone.

You can export the passwords using a Mac and you can get the email ids being used for “Sign in with Apple” and just use that email id if you can’t change it on the websites. I do it now as some websites stopped supporting that feature.

It’s a combination of minimum security requirements and features of the OS as well as the developer of the apps. WhatsApp stopped supporting older iPhones and my parents had to upgrade their iPhone5 which is over 13 years old now. I used to use my old iPad mini 4 only for Zoom until they stopped updating it and now my iPad is useless after using it for 9 years. Zoom blocks it at a server level so there is no way to bypass it.

Apple TV handles it the same way. Netflix doesn’t work because they want you to open the app and scroll through multiple rows to resume watching.

Are you required to subscribe through Prime or can I add any subscription?

Apple TV has the “Up Next” feature which helps as the latest tv show episodes from all your apps are on the Home Screen. Even when you search it gives options from different apps. However, it’s painful for me on a mobile device to have so many apps installed, which take up a lot of space.
