There’s nothing to laugh about. The maniacally evil thing about recall is, that it doesn’t matter what you do to keep your devices clean. If you interact with someone who doesn’t keep his devices clean, which is 100% of us, you’re on recall

And a music player probably doesn’t need to be bleeding edge either. So it’s pretty much a one off thing.

I don’t know anything about HMD so I can’t add to that. However I’d like to correct you regarding the headphone jack. The people that like it so much are generally privacy enthusiasts. Leaving your Bluetooth on makes you easily trackable. Using USB-C headphones helps in that regard but expediates wear and tear on the port by a lot and often makes the phone unusable a lot quicker, because you obviously need it for charging. Audio jacks generally have very low wear and tear. Hope that helps you understand we’re not crazed evangilists hanging on to the past for the sake of it.

You can already block all js and give specific allowances through uBO. Having both uBO and NoScript is redundant, just FYI
I agree with your point but you mentioned the services that are literally the hardest to find alternatives for. Need to use photoshop professionally, good luck getting around adobe. Sys admin only allows microsoft because he doesn’t want to manage a bazillion different setups, get used to windows buddy. I could go on with examples…
Getting rid of those predatory megacorps is worth the fight, but it’s a fight. And it’s not getting easier just by calling it easy.
You can use the FiltaQuilla extension to add content-type as search category. It’s a pretty powerful yet straight forward extension
Last stable version is over 7 years old. Ouch…
If your main motivation is never going through that kind of digital loss, please please please do yourself a favor and do not rely solely on a local solution. If there’s a fire in your apartment, the best nextcloud setup isn’t going to do shit for you. Look up the 3-2-1 rule if you want to be safe.
It’s a little hard to decipher what you mean. I think I understood that you basically want to have a headless gaming rig so you can stream your games in the rest of your network. The closest you would get is probably Bazzite, and configure it to directly boot into steam big picture mode so you can use steam link on your connecting devices. If you would like a platform agnostic setup you could look into sunshine. That will involve more tinkering tho.
You have to separate pirating and torrenting. I’m pirating stuff non stop each day. I’m torrenting maybe once a month, if that. It’s just not the go to thing for a lot of users, so issues around VPNs and torrenting probably aren’t that pressing to warrant any kind of reaction.
I’m very happy with librewolf on desktop and ironfox on mobile
Needs some more cooking. Boots into a white page with nothing on it for me.
I tried working with tiling and while it felt kinda cool, in the end it didn’t solve any problem I have. At most I’m working in 2 different windows 99% of the time and I have a second monitor for that. So it’s not that hiding windows is a use case, it’s that tiling them isn’t one.
I use filen.io as a web drive. Can recommend
Tutanota, as specified in my initial reply
If you’re left leaning and want to send a message, do it with your wallet. Switch to tutanota for mails, search with duckduckgo, use f-droid as an app store… No one needs google, it’s just somewhat inconvenient to get used to alternatives
I recently switched from radicale to baikal. Both are straight forward no frills caldav / carddav managers. Baikal has a more modern UX. My switch came from choosing to use YunoHost to simplify my home server management
