Thanks, I’ll field this extremely easy question - By executive order before it was a bipartisan bill supported by every level of government:

In 2020, President Donald Trump proposed a ban of the app as he viewed it as a national security threat. In August, he signed an executive order instructing that ByteDance divest from the app, though the order was blocked by a court injunction in September and was reversed by the Biden administration in 2021.

To me, making sure that everyone agrees with a new policy before it becomes law, and sending it through the proper channels to be debated and then enacted, doesn’t really seem like a dumb thing.

The dumb thing would be to propose a new law, enact it unilaterally, have it revoked because it was enacted unilaterally, then have everyone agree on it anyway when you pass it through the proper channels, then toss it in the trash yourself at literally the first opportunity.

Which part of Trump proposing, implementing and then yesterday delaying the ban was down to Democrat incompetence?

It’s totally understandable why people do this, but my advice would be stick to small mods.

As soon as an add on is large enough to be a DLC, or even its own game, big companies are 100% coming after it. Especially if it is a popular game and it gets in all the gaming press like this.

I was under the impression it was meant to be Vice City. They’re just not very friendly to modding in general.

They’re pushing the limits of this simulation to see how much bullshit we can tolerate. Turns out it’s a LOT.

I have encountered this “American social issues transplanted” hand waving a lot in Europe. For example, I know a lot of Swedes who say this about a bunch of casually racist stuff (proclaiming Sweden to be very anti-racist). Meanwhile up north you see a lot of Classic American cars which are often casually emblazoned with Confederate flags and even displayed in proximity to Nazi memorabilia. Down south you have a rising right-wing party support fuelled by fear of immigrants from Africa/Middle East (eg. The non-white ones).

I understand you’re trying to educate yourself and that’s great, don’t take this as dunking on you more, as I feel like you’re in the smart minority by trying to learn and reason. It just really bugs me when I hear people say it’s a US problem. A lot of Europe is holding a lot of racist views (and in a lot of cases, horrific colonial history) and then turn around to say things like “why are my football players kneeling, BLM is an American issue”.

Only the US is allowed to ruin elections.

I never thought I’d see the claim that pretending to have a woman tied up in the back of your truck is some “mundane shit”.

Same energy as standing at airport security yelling “I have a gun” and pulling out a replica.

Truck nuts are higher quality and less trashy. And they are quite trashy.

Is that actually painted on someone’s truck? I kinda hope so because it’s so shoddy. The perspective doesn’t even line up for the truck bed.
