I think that’s the final nail in the coffin for me. I don’t wanna play pop culture soup, I wanna play magic. Im out.

My only gripe is pretty straight forward: the cost to play.
I LOVE draft, but have been unable to play it on Arena due to the high cost of entry. They allow standard play for free, but paywall draft. I know I can technically grind dailies to get enough gold, and then if im lucky enough and win enough I can earn enough back to chain another draft, but this is eventually a losing game, a bit like a slot machine.
I just have zero interest in grinding standard, and refuse to pay almost as much as physical draft for non-tangible, digital version. It feels very predatory.
Capitalism strikes again. This is why we can’t have nice things, capitalists keep fucking them up.
There’s a pre-release for this product? That seems strange
Could be good if they move beyond young-adult/teen themes
Arena is even worse value in my opinion. At least with in-person drafts you get some money back in the cards you get (sell anything of value). I can’t justify paying the high cost they charge for *digital *drafts.
It’s a real shame too, I love drafting, but there’s no way I’m going to pay AU$20 for a single digital draft. I can’t believe anyone else does tbh.
I was ambivalent to the play boosters change because it was just the culmination of what we had seen coming for years… increasing the cost of the game for us players.
‘Project booster fun’ was always about asking the question “how fast and far can we push the price-point up for boosters?” They threw a bunch of options out, tested the water, and ultimately decided enough players would pay the higher price-point for the same cost to print. Pure, unfettered greed.
Magic was already expensive enough as it is. I won’t be forking out for in-person drafts at the new price. Bootleg cards serve my playgroups needs at a fraction of the costs. Greedy WotC execs don’t respect players? We shouldn’t respect them.
Unfortunately, his right foot might need a star
WotC exec is schizophrenic. They will never give up trying to give players less while charging them more. The never-ending cancer of “line must got up every year”.
You can just create a sustainable business model guys… one where costs are recovered and a modest return is made. You don’t need to give in to the squeeze from Hasbro to milk your product into the ground… and become like every other empty shell of a product they own.
There’s no better ad for piracy than the greed of corporations. Don’t let ads shit in your head. They disrespect you, you disrespect them.
I dont really care about any of this crap. Let me install my own internet browsers, fix the poor keyboard hit boxes, let me build my own predictive text library…
Made a complaint to the California Dept of Consumer Affairs. I used the way back machine to show at the I purchased the phone, their policy was “full refund, no questions asked” which they silently changed a few years later and then hide behind as an excuse to deny refunds. Turns out that’s illegal.
A shady company that I had to fight tooth and nail to get my money back after literal years of false promises and moving goal posts. They’ve burned any respected reputation they had.
A lawsuit waiting to happen… someone needs to class action MS for systemic breaches of privacy. Think of all the critical infrastructure, government, medical, policing, etc. systems processing sensitive, private, and in some cases classified, information.
Yeh, I’ll wait until the bugs are ironed out and my distro (mint) determines it’s stable. No need to start asking for troubles when everything is working smoothly.
Walled garden platforms doing what walled garden platforms do I suppose…
Yep. Magic is dead, long live the new magic. A once valuable and unique game with lots of interesting things to say and show, now relegated to a backdrop of mechanics to shill pop culture references in card form. The greed got them in the end, as it always does…
I hope someone does a nice oversized card print of this for rule-0 play
Yeh. The Librem was a classic example of overpromise and underdeliver. Borderline scamware by Purism. Will never go near them again.
Ahhh, more corporate stacking I see. Yeh, I’ve seen this one before, it doesn’t end well
