this is not a solution to the issue of mac for no reason not wanting to mount your drive, but are you familiar with SyncThing? i’ve been using it since like 2015 and have never had an issue, it’s super fast and local. requires both devices to be powered while transferring, though

what are you making misleading claims about Qwant for??? if you click your own damn link you’ll see that the only case where they need to collect your name is if you make an account (completely unnecessary), make a de-listing request (to verify that you are who you say you are before removing something, otherwise i could just go and have jeff bezos removed), or if you report something.

honorary mention to Stract which is currently totally useless because the results are so random, but hopefully in a few years it will be a proper alternative. they are indexing the web from scratch in order to not have to rely on existing data from other search engines (which is why the results are terrible right now lol)
