Cars in cities.
You don’t realize how insane they are until you spend time somewhere without them.

I’m genuinely confused how you think that these two examples of internal uprisings are at all connected to someone saying effectively “don’t count on international law to mean anything since there isn’t any body to enforce it”
Just (like most places in Croatia) make sure not to go during peak season!
Yeah I have used opensuse for the past couple years (still do!) but while there is plenty to like, if I were to do a reinstall I would likely move back to Fedora.
Then again, I basically never use YaST, which I suppose is one of the main song points.
It’s literally not any different. Starlink is just a less-reliable broadband internet connection, it has nothing to do with WiFi
For me, I like that it isn’t overcomplicated and just works. It being basic is a big pro to me.
I can see what you’re saying, but at this point Elon is the most powerful person in the US, and certainly more powerful than any politician (even Trump).
I don’t think everyone realizes how unbelievably, dangerously rich Elon is. The dude is a moron, but he has enough money to buy out all of our politicians many many times over.
I only have to use this occasionally, but on my android I use the app “Talkatone” to make free calls to phones. They have paid plans to keep your number, but I tend to just use new ones whenever one expires.
It might not suit your needs, but it’s worked pretty reliably for me for the past 10 years or so.
Wanting less/more immigration are both perfectly valid positions.
Immigration can provide opportunities to a country but can also cause issues and it’s undemocratic and dangerous to demonize either position on the issue.
It depends how you forward images. I assume they are referring to how many/most services (like whatsapp/discord/telegram etc) don’t just send the original file, but do some compression to save data. Do this a bunch of times and you end up with a photo that starts to show noticeable artifacts/pixellation.
That’s my take at least
I know this is unpopular and goes against the ideals of the early internet, but the open internet (especially social networks) is hugely damaging at the moment.
This isn’t just “people having different opinions”, but rather full-scale cyber warfare that’s currently happening. It’s also only going to get worse…
Propaganda works, and it works quite well. Nobody is fully immune.
So unless you feel like having Musk/Russia/China dictate your life (through forcing their shit agenda), banning their attack vectors is really the only play.
It’s less about that and more about stopping an extremely powerful attack vector currently active in your own country.
Literally the biggest reason why the western world is in such a giant political crisis is the weaponization of social media.
I went through a pretty big libertarian phase way back in my late teens.
Not the ‘deregulate everything’ type, but rather more of a ‘everyone’s place in society is governed by the choices they make’ social-darwinist sort of angle.
Once I got out and experienced real life more (and learned about all the little nuances behind everything) I realized just how wrong I was.
Nowadays I’m a big leftist/socialist
Personally I always always buy phones with two sim slots. It’s super practical if you travel semi-often.
Idk about apple, but basically all of the mid-range androids have this feature. I guess this is about the US though, so it’s probably Apple.
Yeah most of europe is waaaaay better when is comes to mobile plans compared to the US.
I don’t use use that much data, but my 8gb plan is just under €6 per month.
In the US, I had a plan like this for over $30…
I can’t check at the moment, but that sounds like something ‘Simply Perfection’ would be capable of.
It’s essentially an addon specifically for tweaking the appearance of gnome stuff.
It’s not colonialism to prefer one culture (or certain cultural traits) to another. In fact, it’s natural.
I’ve lived in a number of countries and each had their own distinct cultural norms. Each has had aspects which I perceived as either positive or negative.
Add it all together and I definitely have preferred certain cultures, not because they are “better” but because they more closely match my own preferences. Other people would prefer different cultural norms.
IPTV is generally for live TV channels rather than on-demand.
Not a raspi, but I had similar issues on my opensuse HTPC which turned it to be related to issues with (or missing) media codecs in Firefox.
After (re)installing all of them, it worked like a charm.
I use opensuse (tumbleweed and slowroll) because I just wanted to try it out a few years back and it mostly just works.
If I were to reinstall today, I’d probably use fedora again, since it’s much easier to use things like Waydroid.
