What is it lacking?
Plush carpet and air conditioning. No, it’s working fine — fun for me, and a handful of others don’t seem to mind.
Obese gray male, introverted, cranky, woke but needs a nap. Enjoys solitude, old movies, long bus rides, and a good bowel movement.

That’s what I’ve been doing for a year or so…
Medium has a paywall, which tends to keep me away, but Substack pays Nazis to post there. This makes the Substack platform distasteful for those who dislike fascists.
This is my #1 long-running frustration with Lemmy, and what you’ve suggested would be the solution. In the software’s innards, personal blocks should be ignored in the communities a user mods.
I don’t want to bother with creating an alt, then switching back and forth several times daily, which means … I can’t block anyone.
It’s not for me, but it sounds cool for those active on both sites.
I tried it, but gave up months ago. Decentralization is what we’re all about, but without a centralized index of what’s available, finding videos on PeerTube is more work than watching them is worth.
It’s like a light bulb reading these comments. I’ve barely touched social media, wondered why it’s of no interest to me, but suddenly I grok it. I prefer the intelligent conversation (and stupid takes too, like mine) of a forum like Lemmy, where there’s a much better IQ/batting average than ‘social media’.
Right on, dude. It would be refreshing to see right-wing arguments advocating a serious fact-based (instead of hate-based and/or lie-based) position on any issue. I’d still disagree, but I’d welcome that disagreement.
Until that glorious future when “the right will reconnect with reality, integrity and simple decency,” I am delighted that they’re underrepresented on Lemmy.
I am not annoyed by Lemmy’s constant glitches. It adds to the charm of the place.
Lemmy is a volunteer effort. You want everything to run corporate-smooth, that’s ‘X’ and TikTok and Reddit.
Firefox, or Mozilla, continues to be the only browser (at least among the biggies) that’s for the users, not the trackers and marketers.
Hadn’t thought of that, and it makes sense. Thanks.
I can’t even get past the user interface at Discord. Rarely have I felt so uninvited to participate, even as the site aggressively invites me to participate.
When it works?
R U McSerious? 14? Jeez, I said & did stupider things than that at that age, and never made up for it by doing anything smart later on.
Next time I see the internet canard that fooled me, I will not be fooled again. Grazi.
I wasn’t referring to r/jailbait, nor was I implying he was a pedophile. I was clumsily alluding to comments purportedly written by Swartz, supporting peoples’ right to publish, read, and share kiddie porn.
But you know what? I haven’t read Swatrtz’s comments myself, so I’m not sure exactly what he said, and in a few minutes googling I can’t even find what I’d read about whatever Swartz may or may not have written.
So the line about kiddie porn was me talking out of my ass. Never a good idea. Knowing nothing, nothing is what I should’ve said.
I think he’d say, “Please spell my name right.”
I think he’d want more kiddie porn — he had a definite urge in that direction.
I think Aaron Swartz was a complicated guy who did some good but had some enormous issues to say the least, and the ongoing worship of him as a hero is not a good idea.
Well, exactly. Pretty sure Reddit knows, but how does any user know?
Thanks for 'splaining it. I shall toss no more rocks at Lemmy’s windows.

You can read c/autism and post comments there without joining anything at all.
I’m surprised it’s asking you for an ‘invite’, though. Never seen that. I’d suggest sending a note to the listed moderator. Just click ‘send message’ on their page.
Lemmy is kinda confusing, but it’s worth the hassle. (:
