  • I didn’t know that context about the guy who made the video, I’ve only seen his video about zen and his video about firefox, at first I thought you meant the commenter- thank you for the additional info, I don’t exist much in dev spaces or follow what happens there and wouldn’t have know he had baggage had you not mentioned it

I think the video contains enough helpful info about the gecko engine regardless of the guys trustworthiness, but I can definitely understand not taking his word at face value

The comments provide a lot of additional info, like that he gave credit to Samsung browser for adding features before firefox when it’s chromium based, so the video isn’t without its issues, but I still gained a lot of understanding of firefox’s technical shortcomings from the specific examples provided. I was really only aware of user facing feature or ux issues

Regardless, hope you have a good one :)

  • Oof… I don’t find that as long or intense of a pattern as with brave but the behaviour to reach out and repeatedly bug the guy about his small blog post reflects strangely and poorly on his character :/ I had no idea kagi kinda came with baggage as well.

And yeah, it definitely is. Thats part of why I try really hard not to let perfect be the enemy of good. There is no perfect, and I still want to be involved in good where I can, to the extent that there is good available.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share a ton of additional context. I often have a hard time keeping in the loop about things and if I’m going to use imperfect things because I think they’re better than the alternative, then I want to at least pay attention to and understand their imperfections

  • That definitely adds a bit more context still. Thank you for the additional information.

I don’t know much about either of the first two people, but I do know lunduke and think he’s gross (if you have context on the first two you’re welcome to share but no obligation to of course :)

Though, I’m also a fan of futo and Louis Rossman. I try to air on the side of being able to appreciate people doing good work even if I don’t agree with everything they do or think. People come from different backgrounds and not everyone will see the world the way I do, or be sensitive to the pain caused by the issues that affect me personally 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, that makes perfect sense with all of what I’ve learned. Independent. Super high prey drive. Chaos tornados as puppies lol.

I’d be adopting an adult, I definitely am not prepared for a puppy. This would be essentially my first dog, no need to make it that much harder 😅. Right now I think I’m generally leaning towards a greyhound, but whippets seem really sweet as well

Thanks for sharing your dog with us. He’s mega cute 🥹

I have a lot of mental health challenges and a severe sleep disorder that results in a lot of isolation. I’m kinda thinking when I’m in the right financial place for it, a dog might really help with the isolation.

I’m curious what you mean by unreliable. I assume you’re referring to them being difficult to direct since from what I hear they’re not very biddable and are pretty independent in their decision making 😅
