It’s a slight buzz. People are substantially more dangerous when they are sleep deprived but no laws or severe punishments for that because the system needs its slaves to get to work whether they’ve rested well or not.

Yeah, agreed. Everybody likes to say “there’s no excuse when you can Uber!” but in a real world situation that requires an expensive ride home and then an expensive ride back to your car the next day while worrying if it’s okay in the parking lot. Not actually very practical when you’re just having a reasonable amount of drinks and not getting shit-faced. So I hang around where I’m at after my last beer until I know I’m safe and just hope I’m not slightly over that silly .08.
It’s a personal decision. Some of us enjoy the flavor and the social enhancements after having a few. I agree fuck people who drive really drunk but I don’t consider a few beers to be that. In fact, I know that a few beers doesn’t make me drunk or mess up my motor skills any. I’m significantly more dangerous when I am sleep deprived but that isn’t illegal. Heh.
Lines are fine. The punishments are too severe at this line though.
People go to bars and friends’ houses and such and drink. It’s a part of life in western society. There is a massive difference in being slightly buzzed and being sloshed and I think the punishments should scale. Just as I’m not trying to change minds, mine won’t change either. This is my unpopular opinion as the thread requested.
Punishments are pretty severe… Night in jail, thousands in fines, possibility of losing your license… Justified when the person is actually inebriated but I don’t believe that is the case at .08… that’s a little buzz.
Not trying to change minds here though. I know it’s an unpopular opinion.
DUI laws are too strict. It shouldn’t be all or nothing at .08 BAC but more severe punishments for more severe inebriation. .08 is pretty low and people who drink regularly can function fine at that level.
People hate this one but… hey, it’s my most unpopular opinion.
Yeah, no doubt. I’m honestly digging the smaller community aspect personally.
Yeah, they can definitely survive another underwhelming generation. They’re sitting on a massive war chest of money and now they have other successful revenue sources like the movies they’re doing.
I would hate to see an industry without their hardware innovations and fantastic software. I’m rooting for their leadership to be humbled and to abandon the full greed mode that they’ve activated, but I’m not rooting for their demise.
If they are being honest and really giving all of that money to charity then that’s cool. I’m hoping they are successful enough with this that it hurts Reddit, because fuck Reddit, but I’m sticking with Lemmy for now.
I just don’t understand how they are struggling with something they invented themselves and already perfected in the mid-eighties.
I took NES and SNES controllers apart like two months ago to clean them. It’s pretty simple in there.
Turn based please.
Yup. That is misinformation that was spread to me in the same manner and I gobbled it up. I’m much less angry since watching a YouTube video and learning about that in fact.
Yup. Life necessities and stealing as much entertainment as I can with good old piracy.
That is true. Regardless, I’m not paying $90 for video games when we’re in such hard times in my country. Steam sales and fit-girl is how I’m rolling into the foreseeable future.
I’m a patient person who doesn’t need a game at launch and will wait a year to get it at a good price. What stings with Nintendo is that they don’t lower game prices even years later though. Looks like I’ll be waiting quite some time before I play the next Mario and Zelda adventures. Unfortunate but I’ll live.
Been a Nintendo fan since the NES, bordering on obsession when I was a teenager and young adult. They’ve always made my favorite games. Looks like their new leadership has really shown its colors today though. The fucking hubris. I will not be paying these prices. $90 physical games? Iwata made sure games were $10 cheaper than the more powerful competitors, not $20 more expensive.
Burn in hell, Nintendo. I hope hackers work really hard to crack this system so I can steal your games. Otherwise I’ll emulate them sometime down the line.
Yeah, there was a bit too much “at an additional price” and “with a Nintendo Switch Online Plus account” for my liking. I get to what? Play a few GameCube games I can already play on my Steam Deck?
I’m sure they will eventually have enough games to entice me as I’m a big fan of Nintendo games since the 80’s, but it’s looking like I’ll be okay waiting for now.
Yikes. I think I’m going to pass for now at that price. Honestly the only game that interested me in that entire showcase was the Donkey Kong platformer where you go around smashing the fuck out of shit, but I’m not about to drop half a grand to play it.
I feel even less excited about the idea of buying this system than I did the Wii U. The scalpers can have at this one. I’ll consider it down the line when there’s more software that looks worthwhile.
Hah, literally 20 years since they’ve abandoned the spec wars.
If they’re Republican it won’t matter.
