It’s accelerating trends that have already been well underway in the world, with the US leading the pack, and doubling down on its own demise (and apparently also working toward the active demise of European Democracy and Freedom) under trump and jd vance.

The analogy I always think of is: We’ve got shovels and we are in a big hole … which way are we going to dig? In my experience, most people keep digging down because it seems easier now, and eventually find themselves in a deeper hole.

I mean if you’re digging a hole most of the time it’s gonna go downward. Digging downwards is the more economical option, it makes sense. If all you have is a hole, leverage the hole, pivot into holing. It’s not a liability, see it as an asset. As the hole gets deeper and deeper, people will be naturally more incentivized to find ways out of the hole. By digging downwards, we are giving ourselves not only the best chance at innovating a solution to get out of the hole, but also give us a bigger hole, with room for more people, each and every one of which will be able to contribute towards a solution of the hole problem.
