I made a post previously about this issue but I wanted to do an update of sorts and see if there is anything new I can do.

Basically about a month ago I got banned off the platform. I do not know why, and they never gave me a reason, no matter how many times I contacted Reddit support, and all appeals were rejected. I can only assume that someone in my apartment got banned and it picked me up too since we share an IP or something. I have since made a few dozen accounts in attempt to dodge this ban and nothing works.

I have gone as far as booting up an old laptop which I haven’t used in 3 years, downloading a virtual machine and running Xubuntu through it, connecting to a VPN on both the laptop and the virtual machine, opening up Reddit in Firefox’s incognito mode, making a new account through a Tempmail email, and waiting 2 days before commenting on a post to make sure I didn’t get flagged as a bot.

Lo and behold, the second I posted that comment, my avatar in the top right disappeared, the page kept telling me I had a server error, and when I looked at my account in another browser, at had told me it had been suspended.

Quite honestly I can’t think of a single other thing I could do. Even after all of those steps taken, Reddit was instantaneously able to track me right back to my other accounts. Is there literally anything I can possibly do to ever post on this platform again?

Reddit bans people for using a VPN, so you might have been banned for that and not tracked back to your original account. Get a residential VPN/Proxy, they are usually a bit pricier than the normal ones, or just go to a friend’s house and use their IP to register.

Not that it will help in the long run. Their AI is running rampant. If it doesn’t ban you for this, it will ban you for that, or for a myriad of other “reasons”.

So would it be a better strategy to keep going with the old laptop and virtual machine, but like unplug my router and force my IP to change instead of a VPN? Also, if I make my account at a different location, but return home and sign onto it from there, will Reddit still pick that up? Because if that’s the case, will just every account that ever enters my home be instantly banned?

Get a new IP that’s unrelated to your home and unrelated to a non-residential VPN service, and purge your browser’s data. Keeping the old laptop should be fine, I think.

if I make my account at a different location, but return home and sign onto it from there, will Reddit still pick that up?

No idea, but that wouldn’t surprise me.
