I’ve had 5 Reddit accounts banned over the past couple of months. I wasn’t spamming. I wasn’t self-promoting. I didn’t post links. I just… talked to people.

My posts were things like: – Photos of my cat – A conversation about burnout in r/CasualConversation – Responding to comments politely

Each time, the account got suspended out of nowhere. No warning, no explanation. I filed appeals — no answer. I tagged @RedditSupport on Twitter — silence.

I’m an indie game developer. I wasn’t even promoting my game. I was trying to be a part of the community. Reddit punished me for using the site as intended.

I know I’m not the only one who’s been through this.

If Reddit is hostile to new users, what future does it have?

This is probably it. Right after the inauguration, they went crazy, permabanning everyone who said anything slightly controversial. It was a bloodbath. I had a 12 year old account, with nearly a million Karma, and I was permabanned for repeating a comment that I had made numerous times without an issue.

You were probably banned then, and once you are banned, they will ban every new account you open. It’s not hard, they just flag your IP address, and when the algorithm spots it, it automatically bans it.

Reddit is awful these days anyway. Just hang at Lemmy. Less puns, bots, trolls, Russian Propaganda Farmers, MAGA Morons, 4Chan refugees, etc. Reddit is turning into the forum version of white supremacist Xitter.
