A tire fell off a United Airlines flight taking off from SFO to Osaka, Japan Thursday morning, officials confirmed. SKY7 was over a parking lot nearby, where it appears the tire hit and damaged cars.

      and both Boeing, and both United (which I think is the more likely reason for the failures.)

      “The 777-200 has six tires on each of its two main landing gear struts. The aircraft is designed to land safely with missing or damaged tires,” the airline said.

      The article says it landed in LAX fine.
