My two year old son is just learning a few words right now. I’m looking forward to the day I can have an honest conversation with him, explain things using words, and get to know what’s going on in his tiny little adorable head.

Yes! Mostly “That’s a car! That’s a truck!” And as his interest and vocabulary is growing, “that’s a hydraulic shovel!” and “a concrete boom pump!”

I am in fact learning the names of all kinds of construction equipment I never knew before. I never knew that a tiny front loader was called a skid steer before. Apparently, they’re called that because they turn by having one pair of wheels go faster than the other, literally steering by skidding. I’ve also learned the specific names of different varieties of fire trucks thanks to him. There’s pumper trucks, ladder trucks, refraction ladder trucks… there’s a special prototype in Japan with tank treads named the Red Salamander for disaster area work too. I also now know the difference between an excavator, a hydraulic shovel, a mini-shovel, and a micro shovel, on sight. I am also learning the names of specific Japanese bullet train models… that’s the the nozomi, that’s the hayabusa and komachi (they sometimes connect to each other by the nose), that’s the tsubasa…

Moving out of Texas. Waiting for the school year to end, and we are getting out of this backwards state.

We’re currently under contract to sell our house in Texas. 2 more weeks until we close. My wife has been up in CT looking for houses, but the market up there is insane. We’ve put in 6 offers on houses and lost 3 of them. Still waiting to hear on the others. But house or not we are out of Texas at the end of this month.

Best decision I ever made. I knew I wanted to live away from DFW, but fam… finally too many good job opportunities for us both were just not available in the south so we made it happen. Cost of living is higher but QOL is much better. Good luck!

I think I’m the only person in the universe who is actually looking forward to the PlayStation Portal handheld being released in a couple of weeks. I loved the Backbone One but it was annoying having to take the case off every time I wanted to play on my phone. The PlayStation Portal will fit my use case very well.

Not to be a shill, but it exceeded my expectations! I use it often and with a hardwired PS5 I’ve had absolutely no network issues.

I’m excited but I’m waiting for reviews first. I have a steam deck so I’m really just looking for some screen comparisons. I miss the haptics when remote playing the PS5 on the deck

Having a secure and comfortable, well-paying job with health benefits before I die.

    Sigh…

I’ve been feeling a bit down lately but I’ll be buying a new car soon so that’s cheering me up a bit.
