Setting aside how blatantly illegal this is, this seems like it would hurt Republicans more than Democrats? A lot of immigrants live in southern states that are historically Republican strongholds. If you exclude non-citizens it seems like Republican states have a lot more to lose from this than Democrat states do. Is this going to play out like a lot of recent Republican gerrymandering attempts where they think they’re pulling a fast one but end up hurting themselves instead?
it’s only illegal if you can find a court willing to convict and reputable enough to enforce it and the supreme court in this country gave carte blanche to republicans to gerrymander as much as possible – and history has proven repeatedly that it will work.
