funny cuz I don’t know a single living soul that supports needless surveillance. Like, their ring doorbells help them clutch their pearls to sleep, sure, but like even the “only criminals care about cameras” people also don’t want to be filmed on their way to work and then at work and then on the way home and every step inbetween
I support the airport-style security & surveillance of commuters on the Shanghai metro, but that’s because when America decides you are its enemy you need to be extra fucking careful.
The slightly more airport style security we have at our metro and train stations is a pure positive imo adds maybe 3 seconds to your commute having to put your bag through a scanner, creates thousands if not more jobs and keeps a favourite target of terrorists safer. If there’s one place that should be locked down with cameras and security it’s mass transit hubs.
Oh haha now I feel like an asshole for only reiterating you. I’d like to add just for funsies that I think it’s a good rhetorical tactic to respond to “only criminals care about cameras” with : Ok, then would you be okay giving your phone and hard drive to the Feds? Why or why not? Only criminals would care if they had something to hide, right? I feel like even most conservatives are at that point.
It’s like the data center thing, right now ads for politicians in Wisconsin are framing republican politicians as Anti Data Center because the Dem can’t shut the fuck up about how much he loves them. They’re gonna act surprised when they lose because a bunch of redneck farmers (reasonably) don’t give a fuck about AI ever.
I don’t know a single young chud who likes Flock cameras
