Sure. Just don’t pay. I listen to some very questionable or morally disgusting songs because I like the music. And I personally never care for the author’s life story. I don’t ask who builds my car either.

Be glad you actually realized it and we even have this chat. And this is beyond bullying, this is top-level-abuse and shows all the usual signs of manipulation and gaslighting. Can’t repeat it often enough: keep the fuck out of their reach. forever. Physically at least, mentally they will probably live rent-free in your head for a while longer (but you will learn to make peace with, or, at least, cope with it). It might sound trivial, but one of the simplest and best rules in (social) life is: Keep toxic people out of your life. Period. Even if it’s blood. Or especially if it’s blood. Make your own family out of friends and soulmates. If you ever have the feeling someone might not be good for you, he most likely isn’t. Fuck this person and move on. You’re only here once, why waste it with some ass-clowns that don’t even care about you?
I’m sorry you had/have to go through all this, noone deserves such treatment. But hey, you made the first step and this is the most important one. Acknowledging there even IS a problem. And you even acted upon it.
And one for the road: Being autistic doesn’t make you weird. It, at best, makes you slightly deviate from the baseline of normality. And that’s what makes people actually interesting, not boring run-of-the-mill-copycats with no own opinions. But this is just my misanthropic point of view :-)
First off: you’re not disgusting. Those who do that to other people are.
As the other commentor said: seek therapy as fast as you can. If you can. Everything we say here can potentially make it worse…
Out of mind-out of sight only works superficially and temporarily, if at all, and it will come back anyway, hitting you even harder and making you run (from your thoughts) even faster next time. Yet despite that is keeping a distance to them (And new arseholes!) absolutely imperative! Having witnessed that so many times it makes sad.
I don’t know any details about your abuse, but should you ever consider going back, for whatever reason: don’t. It happens all the time and it’s never ever a good thing.
I wish you all the power to keep away and get better dear random internet stranger.
Sounds like you dodged a bullet… What’s more manly than playing a dating farmer that wears a dotted minnie-mouse-bow? 😁
And thank you, we will. Just bad I already introduced her to the king of the genre…what next? Sandrock? SunHaven? Anyhow …
Wifey found your post very insightful and also funny. Despite not being funny. As we’re currently in a stardew-marathon and she (being not a hardcore gamer) asked me if I knew if anyone ever fell in love with an NPC. I didn’t knew, then I stumbled upon your comment and showed her 😁
Amen. I do love LEDs since their dawn and have a big-ass collection. But on every single stupid computer thing? I don’t wanna pay extra just because my mouse can have stupid rgb-lights. Or my damn RAM. It adds absolutely nothing, costs more and has another part that will go broke.
I hate the rgb-craze…
One my Xbox controller’s light is so bright it could power our solar-panels. I had to put multiple Band-Aids on it 🫤
See my other comment, this “drawback” is just based on missing knowledge. It’s absolutely the same as with torrents. If you are on public trackers/search-engines you’re fucked with the absolute mainstream-stuff. On private trackers you find what you need. Same with usenet. Lots of private trackers (at least in my native tongue, but most likely in many other tongues too) that deal with local stuff. I never not found anything except some very rare cases (in which torrent, debrid or even group-FPTs didn’t help either, it was just not available at all)
As you said: if you know what you’re doing…applies to everything :)
As said, if one does not understand a medium, it’s not the medium’s fault. Same as with torrent, if you need niche-stuff like localized dubs, you’d need local forums/sites for that. Same as with private torrent-trackers. I’m not a native-tongue either, but if i want localized or foreign stuff, there are at least 3 sites where i always find the stuff. It’s just not a simple “enter name, wait, watch” anymore, just the same speed when actually downloading. I even have torrent as a low-priority fallback enabled. Didn’t trigger for years :) Also torrent’s full-speed vastly depends on age of torrents and how mainstream their content is. As if every torrent of the last decade on that tracker is shared with full-speed.
Anyhow, if you think torrent is superior, you’re surely entitled to your own opinion of course. As said, the less people that use the usenet, the better for its future.
Proof? Why would I need proof? I was just helpful. Personally couldn’t care less where you get your shit.
I download at 100% of my line’s speed (3gbit) 99% of the time. I don’t need to rely on seeders and don’t care for u/d-ratio. If you don’t understand how things work, just stick with Torrents. The fewer that use usenet, the better 😉
Torrent sucks. Go for usenet. As long as it doesn’t really hit mainstream it’s far superior. Plus all the *arrs (sonarr etc) and you’re comfortably set. (Though they work fine with torrents too, if you prefer those for whichever reason)
I have a minimal maintenance-setup running for years now. Wanna see a show? Enter name, select quality, wait a few seconds, start first episode. Movie? Enter name, click download, wait a minute or more and watch. Same with music and subtitles and even fucking porn (who collects porn???).
Price? Not even 10 bucks a month (provider plus indexer). And I even could save, coz I use 3 indexers while one would suffice most of the time and I also pay monthly for emby (I like it and want to give back, beats the lifetime-payment)
Depends on what level of usability of an un-updated android one needs, yes. On a TV I guess it’s of less importance. Except you’re dependand on apps that constantly update and also their required os-level. Yeah, might’ve been too optimistic ;-(
Same. I didn’t even find a 1080p anymore, let alone a dumb one. So fucking sad…but I don’t ever need a TV at all, it’s just for wifey who uses it as background-noise.
And it could be even cheaper without their stupid “smart”-crap. But nooooo. Let’s make a TV they maybe can’t even use 10 years later anymore.
Oh I didn’t know. Assumed it’s just the same shit like their phones and tablets. Crap on top of other crap. But it’s still Samsung and I don’t trust them either 🥴
I got a …don’t hit me…GoogleTV “smart” one recently and there’s absolutely no BS. With some fiddling one could replace the launcher and then there’s really not much left. As to tracking and stuff, there’s pihole and no WiFi, just LAN. And they don’t even try to escape local DNS.
I explicitly wanted a google one, not some Samsung-shit who add their own garbage on top of Google’s garbage.
But the best advice would be to buy the dumbest tv possible (are there even some left?) And then be free to choose which box to add to it. Which might also be google but exchangeable if annoying.
“I have seen the truth; I have seen and I know that people can be beautiful and happy. … I will not and cannot believe that evil is the normal condition of mankind.” (Fyodor Dostoyevsky)
Integrity, curiosity, empathy, open-mindedness.
Of the top of my mind without giving it the required though.
Thanks for the last sentence, I feared it might build up to this 😁
I’d say in this old question “are we bodies or do we have bodies?” It’s the prior. Deduct your ability to question your existence and…you just do. A tardigrade does have that spark of life too. But what is it? Nothing special I’d argue. Us speculating about this is just the epitome of that spark. A gift, a curse (looking at how our species acts, I’d say the latter)…but just something that happened and multiplicated successfully.
But also only in the US. Never envied anyone that had to live there (unless very rich, then it’s okay-ish) but now. Omg…
In the us? 1m is shit, unless you have a great insurance. Elsewhere, 1m is decent if you invest wisely.
I feel you. The more you know, the less you can do any good. You can try and try and try all around and all you achieved by doing your best in doing good is discovering more bad and feel like you’ve failed altogether. I try to stick to the thought of that it’s only MY best I can do, I’m not almighty and everywhere. And maybe I just have set my standards/morals too high.
