I’m not sure their like bananapi based router would be considered professional. More home tinkerer
I’m not sure what that’ll mean for the impact of this change, but I guess we’ll see 🤷🏻♂️

It sounds like you should still be able to buy stuff, I don’t believe it takes active effect immediately

I hope things like hardware made by/for openwrt remain available, but it sounds like they will cease to be?
My first thought was the risk of the us demanding us manufacturers include a backdoor
It sounds like the exemption for foreign companies is an option while they create plans for american manufacturing

Someone who’s used Pinterest a ton for art/design reference this is super helpful, thank you!
Are there any of these many alternatives you like more? Or that you feel like serve specific use cases?

That was an impactful read thanks for sharing it. People who build open source pour so much of themselves into it and I can absolutely see it becoming unhealthy easily, in many different ways, and the culture not being able to identify someone is unwell.

I often think of community run open source free license software projects as an example of communalism, personally. Maybe when I learn about more forms of anarchism and socialism there will be other ideas that feel more apt to describe it
What are fedora and opensuse based on?

I was trying to contribute some other options since the entire thread is like 50 people saying “some electrical tape will fix it” 😅

If the setting is saved by the drive you could set it on a windows machine and then switch it back to linux.
I’m not sure if wine for running whatever the window utility youre thinking of is would work for controlling an external device like that

I don’t expect most people still playing Pokémon go are actually kids 😅 I could be wrong, but as someone playing it until pretty recenly and who had friends who still played it at various points I don’t think its really popular with kids anymore

That is really helpful, thank you so much!
What is a tracker? 😅 I’m super ignorant about this stuff lol

I have never been good about seeding because my old laptop sucked and I rarely torrent stuff and dont really underestand what the ettiquite is or what seeding actually entails. I always kinda worried it’d keep my computer awake all the time and like use battery, or consume computational resources while I’m trying to use it
Anyone wanna give me the lowdown on seeding, etiquette, and what to expect? I’d like to be better about it, but I don’t have anyone to really learn this stuff from 😅

This is super cool! I’m not afab so I can’t help test and my question may be ignorant but I’m curious why one would want this functionality to not be something native and benefits from being hosted at all?
There are some f-droid trackers that look nice (I keep seeing one there with a super pretty ui) but I’m not sure what the tradeoffs of just using a native application for something like this might be
That was fantastic

Thank you! I really appreciate the help ☺️
Hope you have a lovely day blaze!

Thanks! Previously I had looked for a way to import settings and was unable to find it so that held me up, but I got all my comms imported so I’m gonna give piefed.zip a try as my new instance ☺️
Username is slightly different now, it was probably time for it to change
Interesting, I was sometimes kinda curious how they compared in that regard!
If you wanted to expand on that I’d be curious to hear your thought and experience on how things compare, but I appreciate you sharing that take ☺️
