  • Franklin ( the one about the turtle ). For the most part, I feel like almost all the content is good enough to show a young child considering it’s one of those preschool age shows. May look a little old considering it’s 90s animation and also doesn’t have any traditional box sets ( it seems to be nothing but sets based around themes ), but I’m pretty sure every episode is on a Canadian company’s yt channel ( region locked AFAIK, so having a VPN is advised ). Treehouse Direct, IIRC.

Also, for a friendly enough way of teaching religious lessons in a non-preachy way that is actually not eye bleach or racist ( looking at you, FInding Jesus ) or low quality slop maid solely to profit off of religious parents, VeggieTales. There’s a reason why it was popular with Christians and non-Christians alike, besides the silly songs.

They can be fun to watch ( not including the 4th VHS episode where 3 characters get thrown into a furnace and magically survive thanks to a “glowing man” ( probably Jesus ) ) and can be good for opening a conversation on things like being nice to others despite differences or being thankful for what you have or a number of other topics they covered from the Bible. Honestly, one of the greatest Christian animated cartoons ever considering how it is probably the only Christian cartoon parents who are and aren’t Christian could probably both agree on letting their kids watch.

Cannot speak for modern VeggieTales, though, so take my words with a shaker of salt just in case modern VeggieTales isn’t as lesson oriented or anywhere near as good as the originals from the 90s and early 2000s.

Yeah, it sounds good until the current or next leaders use it to arrest people because they don’t like the current leadership or a miriad of other things they don’t want people thinking, regardless of what side they’re on. I would gladly take privacy and security over throwing the baby out with the bathwater, especially with legislation and law that immediately treats you like a prisoner.

  • I’ve definitely had one of those “if I could go back” style scenarios innmy head and didn’t choose pokemon because the question didn’t include the 90s.

My plan for that would be to go back to the beginning of the 90s and basically convince Sega that I’m from the future and give them a copy of gens 1 and 2 for gameboy, alongside a bunch of ads for the game, and let them most likely mess everything up like we know they would.

But that plan hinges upon me being able to travel back in time with things instead of Terminator popping into the past with no clothes or possessions. Also depends on whether I could travel back with a translator as well because my Japanese is not good enough for a forced business meeting with Sega of Japan.

  • Probably do everything in my power to ensure the gaming landscape isn’t as predatory in terms of having to pay for online access on consoles and seeing the Devil itself ( big red N ) go down in flames. Also, try to make console exclusives seen as something nobody is interested in anymore and are unwilling to purchase, more or less towards the 2010s rather than the 2000s, otherwise some of my favorite franchises wouldn’t exist.

XboxLive? Find a way to fudge all the numbers to make it look like absolutely nobody was buying it!

GameCube? Find a way to ensure little to no 3rd party devs make anything for it by any means possible!

PSN? Keep that free like it was for PS3!

Would need to spend months, if not years, to figure out how to make all of that and ending console exclusives a thing, but a world without all that, IMO, would be a better world.

  • Cannot speak for anyone else, but it depends on his badly I want it and whether or not I am willing to give money to said compant/person/whatever.

Is it an old out of print game that suddenly had prices jacked up 500% by scalpers/scammers? It ain’t worth me trying to find a ROM if the sources I like don’t have it, nor buying it.

Is it from some indie dev/devs that probably don’t have the financial stability to afford everyone pirating their game? I’m more likely to buy if I can afford.

Did a large company like Sintendo, Activision, etcetera, make it? For older titles, I am likely to buy if it’s a low enough price and I have a real interest in it. Newer titles? I usually don’t bother because the quality for most triple AAA studios isn’t up to par for me since I don’t like buying reskins of the same game with somehow less of the basic features available unless you pay.

Side note: looking forward to Black Ops 99 where you have to pay $9.99 per pixel to be able to see the screen as you play and still have people buy the game, willing to pay for every pixel… only to find out the game servers are constantly offline for an online only experience they don’t get to play and by purchasing the game you somehow agreed to give Activision access to your bank account to do as they please with that money.

    Edit:

For shows and movies, if I can’t easily find it, I don’t bother because it’s a much bigger hassle than video game piracy. Same with books.

  • Others have suggested FMHY and piracy communities, but besides the normal advice of having a trustworthy enough VPN and not g••gling something like “free movie torrent” and just clicking on the first link/links, one thing I’ve learned is just, assuming the file is somewhere around 750Mb, I think, seeing what VirusTotal has to say about it is advised.

Also, avoiding programs like BitTorrent in favor of things like Qbittorrent or Transmission is probably a good step. Last I checked, one of the communities said that at one point BitTorrent, or one of the old torrent clients, had become a virus ridden shell of its past.

Speaking of torrent clients, binding your client to your VPN is a good idea. You definitely don’t want your torrents to continue when your VPN disconnects you for any reason. Different clients may have different ways of doing it, or the setting will be in a different spot, so looking up how to do it for your client is a good idea, if you don’t know how to.

Though, I think this final part is real important for your safety when visiting certain sites to find torrents: have some form of working adblock! Because no reputable business want their ads on a piracy website, you might get caught up in a situation where you might get invisible full-screen ads that will take you to porn sites or other probably virus riddled sites just by clicking, sometimes without any way to get rid of said ads. That, or you’ll get lucky and the site just has normal ad placements, but they’re still not something you should click on.

  • I would never use the spray stuff near others. I’m never in a situation where I spray it anywhere near people, only myself in my bedroom. Especially since my brother used to have asthma and I would never want to intentionally do something that could trigger it for others. Can relate to probably inhaling some and possibly getting a tiny bit in one eye.

It’s also almost never I have the spray stuff, but if it’s environmentally bad, I’ll definitely have to switch to the gel.

  • I’ve become an either gel or spray deodorant type of man anymore. If I have a stick of the more solid stuff from the local food bank, I’m not gonna be super picky or complain about that because it’s free deodorant, but if I’m buying, gel or spray has become my new favorite.

I presume it’s less prevalent because I usually see way more of the more solid stuff than the gel and have a harder time finding the spray, in store because I know I can easily find it online, but I’d rather get it at the store while I’m already getting other things as well.
