In late January 2023, almost 45 GB of source code from the Russian search giant Yandex was leaked on BreachForums by a former Yandex employee.

I feel it’s relevant, because of it confirming the possibility of “big tech” spying and cooperating with 3-letter agencies.

I’ve always thought yandex was based on China (because of the great Chinese translation).

      Surprisingly, the Netherlands:

Most of Yandex’s services are based in Russia but its parent company, Yandex N.V. is based in The Netherlands.

The Yandex N.V. “head office” is conveniently located in the third largest airport in the world, so people can pick up mail sent to that address without having to actually live in the country.

Their headquarters are very much in Russia, and the Netherlands address is surely about avoiding political sanctions.
